Spring Cleaning for your Small Business

After all of the snow this winter, we couldn't be happier that March 20th is the first day of Spring! Here are some "Spring Cleaning Tips" for your business, as you prepare your new strategies and update the office.

In this issue...
WOMEN'S HISTORY IN HARLEM

In honor of Women's History Month, the BID is paying tribute to some of 125th Street's Leading Ladies. Business owners, CEOs, Founders, Politicians and more; these women are making powerful moves on

Harlem Yoga Studio Tells Us Their Story
In honor of Women's History Month, we are featuring 125th Street's Harlem Yoga Studio, founded by
Laurel Katz-Bohen and co-owned by Erica Barth.

Harlem Yoga Studio opened its doors in the October of 2009 with one ambitious mission: to make yoga accessible to Every Body in the neighborhood regardless of age, weight, health, financial status or experience.

While the proven benefits of regular practice-including stress reduction and weight loss-are widely accepted in many parts of the country, the studio's founders, Erica Barth and Harlem resident Laurel Katz-Bohen noticed there was almost no yoga in their Harlem neighborhood. BID Footfall - Annual Performance

The Pedestrian Count on 125th Street has dropped in the first two months of 2014. We can only attribute this to the frigid weather that we've experienced throughout this winter. There was a similar drop in footfall counts in 2013 during these months, but not as drastic. Based on the data from previous years, we predict the numbers and visitors will rise this coming Spring.

East Harlem

The 125th Street BID sends our deepest condolences to the families who lost love ones, and our well wishes to the injured. We wish them a full and speedy recovery.

We continue to send our prayers and support to Community Board 11 & the entire East Harlem Community during this time.

The out pour of community driven services to help those displaced, and to provide spiritual guidance has shown the true spirit of Harlem. Whether it is East, Central, or West -- we are all one!
