Happy Holidays from the BID
The Holiday Season on 125th Street kicked off with the BID's Annual Holiday Lights! On Sunday, November 18th, the street lit with holiday cheer, and truly "shines bright like a diamond." The "Harlem Holiday Lights" Program is a locally driven effort that represents the Harlem Community Spirit. It supports the 125th Street BID's goals of promoting 125th Street as a vibrant cultural center and continuing the revitalization of 125th Street as the commercial and artistic heart of Harlem. This year, the BID did not host a lighting event. Instead, we are looking ahead and focusing our resources on creating a community-wide celebration in 2013; a historic year for the 125th Street BID and for the Harlem Community. 2013 marks 20 years of the 125th Street BID's operations, as well as the 200th birthday of 125th Street, so get ready!

with EmblemHealth
The "Season of Giving" may have just begun but the West 125th Street community and businesses have long been in the spirit! One of West 125thStreet's newest additions, Emblem Health, hosted a fair in two locations for Hurricane Sandy victims on both November 16th and 17th. The Harlem State Office Building plaza served as the first location for this "Care Fair" that aimed at collecting goods to give to those in need due to Sandy's devastation. Emblem Health thanked all the fair's participants, by providing them with an EmblemHealth care package with a drawstring bag, water bottle, pedometer and more. Check out a few photos from the event below: Kevin Jones of New York City receives an EmblemHealth Care Package from Yolanda Slade, an EmblemHealth employee volunteer, after making a donation during the EmblemHealth Hurricane Sandy Relief Effort in Harlem. The event was held at the Adam Clayton Powell State Office Building Plaza on November 16 to support Far Rockaway residents impacted by the storm.
