It is the time of the year that everyone in Texas looks forward to for several months...some people call it Fall or harvest season but I like to call it...Thanksgiving!
I really look forward to Thanksgiving as a time when we eat ourselves into a tryptophan coma and then shop 'til we drop the next day... but since this is supposed to be the time that we reflect back on what we are grateful for, I have been thinking a lot about what I am thankful for. One of the smartest decisions that I have ever made in my life was pursuing the field of Histotechnology. Admittedly, I had no idea what histology was when I first stumbled upon it in high school; but when I met my first "real" Histotech, I knew that was the road I wanted to go down. Looking back I am thankful Histotechnology has given me a career, and not "just a job". I am also grateful to be a part of a community of such incredible people. Histotechs do amazing work every day and I am proud to be part of our fraternity. So in the spirit of being thankful and giving back, I am opening the door to anyone that feels the same way I do. I am asking for those interested to take a more active part in the Technically Speaking Series. Specifically, if you have topics you would like me to address I would be happy to do so. If there is a topic in which you consider yourself to be a subject matter expert and want to write up a quick synopsis, we are happy to publish it for you and of course recognize you in the process. You have so much to offer each other and I want to encourage you to continue to gather knowledge and share that information with your peers. To the extent you are interested, let me know as I would love to work together. Happy Thanksgiving Everyone! - Debbie
