6:15pm Worship @the Well
Worship @the Well is an evening service that evolves based on how God moves in our hearts. Some weeks we offer services to bless our animals, and other weeks we worship with Jazz or Gospel music. We sit in chairs in a semi-circle in Clark Hall, share out joys and concerns, light candles of prayer, and refresh our spirit to the music of the River Rock Band. Please come a little early at 5:30 for a light soup supper before the Well. David Price preaches tonight!

Hancock Concert Series: Tribute to Bernstein

A Tribute to Leonard Bernstein Launches Hancock's 5th Annual
Concert Series

On Sunday October 18th at 3:00 PM, we are pleased to welcome a concert produced by the Boston Singers resource and new England Light Opera--a Musical Tribute to Leonard Bernstein. The concerts will feature soprano Tiffany Baxter, mezzo-soprano Angela Jajko, our own Mark Morgan, and pianists Beverly and Andrew Soll. They will be singing works ranging from Broadway (West Side Story, Candide, On the Town, and more) to art song to opera from this prolific and controversial Massachusetts native.

This program launches our 5th season, which includes 14 concerts between now and May. From early music to brass, to choral, to bells,  to chamber music-- there's a concert for all sorts of musical tastes and programs for the whole family. Admission is by donation. For more information and complete Concert Series Schedule, CLICK HERE to go to our WEBSITE. Come on out and invite a friend!

Volunteers Needed to help with our Concert Series!

With our biggest season to date, we need volunteers to help us make our Concert Series a success. The Series not only produces income for our music program, it also is a terrific outreach to our community. If you are interested in any of the following, WE NEED YOU! Take a look:
  • Front of House Coordinator--coordinates volunteers to be ushers, take donations etc for each show
  • Graphic Designer--to design posters and other print and online materials for the series
  • Publicist--to help our office staff get the word out about the Series
  • Ushers--to help at each concert
  • Posterers--to put up posters around Lexington and surrounding towns for each show.
If you can help for one concert or the whole series, please contact Mark Morgan at mark@hancockchurch.org or 781-862-4220 ext 212.
Our 'Habitat For Hancock' Angels

Sixteen Habitat for Hancock angels put in 80 hours of volunteer work this four day weekend to completely renovate the dining room storage closet! The storage space was emptied, cleaned, patched, sanded, primed, painted, sorted, and reorganized from the ceiling to the floor, and a broken electrical outlet was replaced. It is now sparkling, fresh-smelling, safe, and very efficiently organized.

Thank you angels so much for sharing your time and your talent. For the cost of one gallon of paint and a couple rollers, they were able to completely renovate a space that had not been updated since the 1960s! When you see them, please thank them for their devotion to the church building this weekend: Joan and Dean Rutila, Janet Woit, Anita Chanoux, Gloria Amirault, Susan McClements, Yvette Kirby, Scott Martin, Daryl and Tom Battin, MaryAnn and Paul Shupe, Carolyn Bell, Martha Sheridan, Cheryl and Mike Kraley.

Watch for information on the next Habitat project in January. You too can be a Hancock Angel!
Lost and Found - will be donated 10/17
Everything in the lost and found box outside the dining room will be donated to Goodwill on Saturday 10/17 (Work Day). Items are displayed on the table outside the dining room this week for people to come and claim. There are ballet shoes and tutus, pillows, socks, travel mugs and water bottles, umbrellas, jackets, you name it! Please call the Church Office if you have any questions. Thank you!
Wheelchairs - correction
Special thanks to American Medical Resources Foundation (AMRF) for donating two wheelchairs to Hancock! Kay Barney and Ted Bergey were so kind to deliver them to us last week. Hancock Church has a 27 year history with AMRF with active volunteers going to the warehouse in Brockton every Tuesday! These volunteers include David Hathaway, Dave Hamblin, Esther Castanheira, Pete Plank and Bill Bickford, Ted Bergey, and Kay Barney. Says Kay Barney, "We and the rest of the AMRF crew of volunteers and the AMRF staff are happy to have been able to furnish the wheelchairs."
