The Welcoming Committee is hosting a lunch after the service on Sunday, February 8 to give you a chance to meet some members and clergy and ask any questions. If you are interested, please call the church office at office@hancockchurch.org or 781-862-4220

Pastor's Class
Sundays, 8:30am in Pearson

Pastor's Class is back to meeting in the Pearson Room. Our current focus is Bible Study, led by Paul Shupe.
Each week we discuss the scripture to be used in that day's sermon. Participants are especially interested in getting the inside track on the message of each sermon before it happens.

"It is fascinating for us to examine and interpret each week's scripture before the service, and then to discover how the sermon might reflect our discussion," says one participant. All are welcome to come and learn more about the scriptures and how they are still teaching us about our faith. Come on a drop-in basis, no regular attendance required, and no homework!

Nominating Committee Introduces
Children's Christian Education and
the Christian Service Committee

Over the next few weeks, the Nominating Committee will be discussing the work performed by the committees of Hancock Church. Please, as you read these notes, consider what gifts you have to contribute to the Hancock community and choose some committees in whose work you would like to contribute.

Children's Christian Education

This committee oversees the children's education on Sunday Mornings using theme-based curriculum, and organizes activities to foster community for children and families. The committee has five to six members.

Christian Service Committee

The mission of this committee is to lead and engage Hancock members of all ages in promoting a more just and humane world through acts of service to those in need.

For a donation of $20, you can receive 1qt of homemade chili, a bag of chips, and 1/2pt of dip, available on Feb. 1st for Superbowl Sunday!

Thank you for a great MLK Day!

Thanks to everyone who took part in the MLK Day of Service last Monday! Volunteers doubled to 400 this year, and we were able to display our peace pole and peace cranes as a show of support. We will continue making cranes into March.
Support the Boy Scouts "Camperships"

Hancock's Troop 119 supports other Scout programs in Lexington. We invite you to support Sacred Heart's Boy Scout Troop 10 in their annual fundraising dinner on Saturday, February 7 at Sacred Heart Parish at 5:00 pm. The event will be a relaxing dinner catered by Marriot Burlington, which will include a silent auction and plenty of lively musical entertainment by the scouts. The troop is raising funds for "Camperships," which are financial aid for scouts to go to summer camp and to purchase gear that can be used for camping year-round. Donations of $25 per ticket are greatly appreciated. Troop 10 scouts will be at coffee hour, selling tickets and accepting donations.
