We gather for worship on this night, bringing our blues to sing and to share, hearing the Good News spoken in ways that honor our distress without the pretense of false joy. Come, let us share our pain together, trusting God to hear, to hold, and to heal. Worship includes time for lament, for anointing for healing, and communion for renewal.

EDUCATION AND FELLOWSHIP

See Left Side-bar for regularly scheduled classes.
Intergenerational Caroling PartyThis Sunday!

Photo from last year's caroling party!

For many years, Hancock Members have prepared for Christmas by sharing the melodies of the traditional carols. Similar to last year, we have revised the schedule to make the event better for families with young children.

Join us this Sunday, Dec.14th. We'll meet in the Dining Room at 3pm to divide into groups. Then we'll spread the joy of Christmas by visiting and singing carols at various retirement communities and members homes.

We'll meet back at Hancock at 5pm for pizza (and salad). This will end in time to attend the Evening Worship @the Well.

If you'd like to attend, please RSVP to alex@hancockchurch.org.

Join Other Hancock Caregivers for a meal after Evening Worship!
Dec 14, 7:15 in Pearson

Are you one of the many Hancock members caring for an aging parent, sibling or other loved one? Maybe you've done so in the past or you're thinking that you'll have to in the future? If so, we'd like to invite you to join others for a simple meal and important conversation. We'll gather this Sunday at 7:15 PM in Pearson after Evening Worship @the Well.

Whether you have advice to share or are looking for understanding ears, please consider joining us. There is much wisdom in the group! If the meeting time is difficult, we do have an email list that is often used for advice and the sharing of resources. Please let Alex (Alex@HancockChurch.org) know how we can best help you.

Sustainable Financial Future for Hancock
Sunday, Dec 14, 11:30am in Pearson

Where does the money to run the church come from and where does it go? How can we maintain our level of activity and engagement with the world without incurring deficits that could limit our future growth? Come and join a discussion about the sustainability of Hancock's financial future. Our financial team has been analyzing our past trends, clarifying our financial reporting system, and identifying ways in which the church can be put on a healthier financial footing for the future. Our treasurer, Tom Ransohoff, and Finance Committee chair, Amy Swanson, will lead the program. Please come to learn and participate in this "church economics 101" discussion.

Can You Help Set-Up Poinsettias?
Dec 13, 11am

Thank you to everyone who donated and dedicated a poinsettia this year!

As we approach Christmas, our sanctuary suddenly transforms into beautiful colors of red and green. However, this doesn't happen magically! We're looking for volunteers to help us set up the poinsettias on Saturday December 13th at 11:00 AM. I'll even bring some treats for your hard work! If you have any questions, or can attend, please let Alex (Alex@HancockChurch.org) know. There more hands we have, the quicker we can finish. Thank you!

Holiday Fair Thank You!

Thank you for supporting Manger Sunday & the Hancock Hoilday Fair!

Women's Lunch Place Cookie Plates

Dear Bakers and Buyers,

We would like to celebrate a wonder: The final sum to be donated to The Women's Lunch Place for their birthday program is $1022! This includes donations, plates and bags pre-sold, sold at the Holiday Fair and sold at The Well. Thirty-six bakers volunteered, and obviously, many people bought cookies. The plates looked especially beautiful this year. So, a huge THANK YOU to all of you for baking and buying Christmas cookies!

Peace be with you, Linda, Amy, CeCe, Sally and Lisa

New Ride Ministry for December
As we prepare for these very full Advent and Christmas seasons, I want you all to know about a new Ride Ministry initiative here at Hancock.

As many of you know, there are members of our congregation who would love to worship with us but can only come when they are driven by friends and members of the church. Can you pick a few Sundays in the coming year to volunteer to drive someone else? If everyone did that, we'd have more than enough drivers for everyone who wanted to come! We're not asking anyone to commit to anything definite, but simply register your potential availability.

You can read more
here or go directly to the sign-up form for December here. If you'd like to register your need for a ride, email care.coordinator@hancockchurch.org.

Alex Shea Will's Ecclesiastical Council
Tuesday, Dec 16 at 7:30pm
On Tuesday afternoon, our Acting Minister of Congregational Care, Alex Shea Will, was unanimously approved for his Ecclesiastical Council by the Committee on Ministry. The "EC" is the final step before Alex can seek an ordainable call within the United Church of Church.

Alex's "EC" will be held at Hope Central Church, in Jamaica Plain, MA on December 16 at 7:30 PM. Everyone is invited to attend to support Alex as he shares his theology paper with other local churches in the United Church of Christ. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to Alex.
A Note from the Treasurer
As we near the end of the year, we reflect on how grateful we are for the donations to Hancock Church this year. We are now weeks from closing the books on 2014, and we hope that everyone is able to complete the fulfillment of their pledges before the end of the month. If you've forgotten what you pledged or would like an up-to-date figure on what you've given so far, please contact Kim Gladstone, our financial administrator, at 781-862-4220 or financial.administrator@hancockchurch.org.

Life's circumstances sometimes change folks' ability to meet the pledge they made a year ago. If you are in this situation, we understand. Conversely, if you find yourself in a position to give a little extra, that would be most appreciated.

Your support is vital to the church and all the good work it does, and we very much appreciate it.

Thank you for Giving to Hancock

Stock Donations and Year-End Logistics: Thank you very much for contributing to Hancock Church via a stock donation. With year-end fast approaching, please note that stock contributions should be transferred into Hancock's Fidelity account by Friday December 19th in order for the trades to settle by year-end. Please keep that deadline in mind as you consider making a stock contribution during the month of December.

Kim Gladstone, Financial Administrator, can be reached at 781-862-4220 or at financial.administrator@hancockchurch.org should you have any questions. Thank you!

2015 Annual Giving Envelopes

Look for your name on the spreadsheet, find the number associated with your name, and choose the booklet with that number on it. Please initial the spreadsheet so that I know you've picked up your booklet. Don't hesitate to contact me, Kim Gladstone, at 781-862-4220 or at financial.administrator@hancockchurch.org should you have any questions.  Thank you!
