SUNDAY EVENTS

Faith Promise Sunday!

"As each has received a gift,

use it to serve one another,

as good stewards of God's varied grace."

I Peter 4:10-11 (ESV Bible)

Join in the Hancock Community's joyous celebration of all our gifts of time, talent and treasure at Celebration Sunday, Nov. 16! Here's how you can participate:

Join morning worship, either in person or through a web or TV broadcast, as we bring forward symbols of our gifts in an all-ages procession.

"Symbols" will be provided for all before the service, but if you haven't mailed your pledge card yet, we will be delighted to receive it during the procession. Both children and JYO students will have special roles to play in the service.

Join us for a Stewardship-themed coffee hour after morning worship. Treats! Coffee! More treats!

Extend the celebration at the Well, 11/16 AND 11/23! Stewardship Team members will be at the Well service on both 11/16 and 11/23 for Commitment Sunday activities. Due to the special visit of the Butterfly Human Rights Choir on 11/16, we will have the main Well celebration on 11/23.

If you need a pledge packet or pledge card, please contact Jane Park or any member of the Stewardship Team (Bess Deck, Robin Digiammarino, Skip Irving or Manuel Navia).

Remember that you can also pledge by sending an email to Kim Gladstone, Financial Administrator, at kim@hancockchurch.org.

The Stewardship Team wishes to thank each member of the Hancock Church family for your constant and generous support of the mission of our church.

EDUCATION AND FELLOWSHIP

HEAT After Church Program
This Sunday, 11:15am in Kathie Stuart

Please join the Hancock Environmental Action Team after church on Sunday 16 November 2014 at 11:15am in the Kathie Stuart Room. Make sure you stop in Clark Hall to get a coffee, juice, and treat with the Stewardship Committee before attending the HEAT Program.

We are all seeing storms get fiercer, droughts affecting our farms, and ice melting in the Arctic. We wonder how we are going to pay for all the damage from the storms and still make changes to our infrastructure if things keep getting worse. If you are as concerned as I, come hear what several members of our church have been doing to reduce their use of fossil fuels.

Holiday Fair Volunteers Needed!
December 7, 11am - 1pm

Are you looking for an opportunity to get involved at Hancock but perhaps can't make a long-term commitment at this time? Then consider volunteering to help with the annual Hancock Holiday Fair (formerly known as the Alternative Christmas Fair), which this year will be on Sunday, December 7th, from 11:00am to 1:00pm.

Learn more about how this annual event comes together by volunteering to help staff a table, greet visitors, direct foot traffic, or help with setup and cleanup. For more information, contact CeCe Potter at 781-862-4765 or see her at the Christmas Cookie Sale table at coffee hour.

Boy Scouts Wreath Sale

The Boy Scouts of Troop 119 will be taking orders for holiday wreaths during coffee hour on Sundays on November 9th, 16th and 23rd immediately following the morning service.

The wreaths are full, 20" to 22" in diameter, and are decorated with a red velvet bow. This is the Troop's only fundraiser of the year, providing funds to purchase equipment, help defray the cost of trips, and fund activities. The wreaths are $15 and may be picked up on Sunday, November 23th in classroom 205. Thank you for your support of Scouting!

Women's Lunch Place Christmas Cookies
Back by popular demand! The Christmas Cookie Sale, for which we are taking advance orders during coffee hour, benefits The Women's Lunch Place in Boston, one of the organizations that Hancock supports to address hunger and homelessness.

Each $10 you give for a plate of homemade Christmas cookies goes to fund the Birthday Program. Read more here.

Look for our table Sunday at coffee hour to order and pay for your cookies and then pick up your cookies at the Holiday Fair on December 7th. For more information, contact Amy Swanson, CeCe Potter, Lisa Sandeen, Sally Wyman, or Linda Kilner Olivier.
