Lower Front Entrance Blocked
Please use the rear entrance
Temporary walls are up, blocking off the lower front entrance. All building access will have to be through the back door, or the handicapped side entrance. Also, don't be surprised by the large dumpster near the back door! It will only be there for the summer as the construction crew needs it close-by for heavy disposal.
On Sundays, the Sanctuary doors and the handicapped side entrance will be open for morning worship.
We will do our best to keep you updated through the Hancock Weekly and on our website: www.hancockchurch.org. Please look out for signs, as building access could change on a daily basis. If you have any concerns about building access during the week, please call the Church Offices at (781) 862-4220.

More details on Hancock Grills on Wednesdays!
When? Every Wednesday, starting July 10 until August 28 from 6:30-8:30 pm Where? Hancock members' backyards or decks. In case of rain, these events will be cancelled. Next week on July 24, Hancock Grills will be at Deb Crooke's house. Why? For fun and fellowship! We want you to get out of your kitchens this summer and have fun eating, playing, and talking as we celebrate the warm, dry summer evenings in Lexington. How do I sign up to host? Sign up at Coffee Hour, contact the church office, or call Lisa Sandeen (781) 424-7937. We still need one or two more Host Families. Host Families will provide a grill, a backyard or deck, as well as beverages (ie, ice tea, lemonade, water). Parish Life will be happy to supply paper goods and condiments. Attending families bring their own meat, fish, or veggies to grill and a dessert or side dish to share! Lawn chairs or blankets are also recommended. Everyone is encouraged to RSVP the host family when possible. |

Official UCC Statement on the George Zimmerman Trial
"Our foremost thoughts and prayers today are with members of Trayvon Martin's family, who have lost a beloved child to racially motivated gun violence and who now must bear the additional weight that the perpetrator of this crime will not be held accountable. May they be blessed with courage, endurance, and the assurance of God's continuing love and care.
"Now we must act -- as local congregations, as individuals, and as a denomination -- to engage fervently in our own sacred conversations on race and racism to expand solidarity with our sisters and brothers who, out of sheer necessity, must teach their children how to walk, how to talk, and how to behave so that they don't become targets of violence and racial hatred. Now is the time to act. We must challenge our lawmakers and court systems that continue to make racially-biased decisions."
Read the entire statement on the UCC site.

What's Up At Interfaith Garden?
Hancock works along with 12 other faith communities at a local garden growing produce that goes to the Lexington Food Pantry. There's more than just healthy food being nurtured! Camaraderie, fun chit chat and a sense of accomplishment flourishes as well.
On a recent Saturday we harvested 13 different varieties of produce, totaling over 40 pounds, and it was delivered to the pantry within an hour of picking. Come check us out! Invite a friend or family member. Hancock next sends volunteers 8 to 9:30am on the Saturdays of Jul 20th, 27th and Aug 17th. For more info or to sign up to volunteer, contact Amy Swanson
