Lexington Food Pantry: July is Chili Hash and Stew Month!

While any non perishable foods are welcomed, the Lexington Food Pantry could really use cans of chili, hash and stew this month. Donation containers are located all around the church. Hancock has a long history of supporting the Pantry with food donations, monetary assistance and the most important: volunteers.

If you would like to distribute food at the pantry, please contact Scott Griffith at isb.scooter@gmail.com or 509-710-5371.

Wanted: 4-drawer, legal-size file cabinet

If you happen to have an old file cabinet that you would be willing to donate, please contact Mark Morgan at mark.morgan@hancockchurch.org.

At Hanock Church we are very lucky to have a large music collection for all of our choirs and bells groups! We just need one more large file cabinet for storage during construction.

Volunteers needed at Compassionate Care Hospice

Compassionate Care Hospice is seeking volunteers to provide companionship and support to terminally ill individuals and their families residing in the Lexington community and surrounding areas.  Volunteers can assist by holding a hand, reading a book, sharing a story, etc.  A free training is provided for this very rewarding opportunity to become a hospice volunteer.  For more information, please call Aimee at 781-426-6233 or email aimee.peden@cchnet.net.

Thank you from Suzanne Steele

Dear Hancock Family,

My May 8th hip revision surgery was successful, and I am now recuperating. I wanted to let everyone know how much I appreciate everyone's thoughts and prayers to me on the road to recovery. A big thank you for the hospital visits, flowers, help with rehab, and the prayer shawl. Having the prayer shawl was like the church wrapping their arms around me. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers, and I hope to join you on Sundays again.

Love,

Suzanne Steele

When? Every Wednesday, starting July 10 until August 28 from 6:30-8:30 pm

Where? Hancock members' backyards or decks. In case of rain, these events will be cancelled. Next week on July 17, Hancock Grills will be at the Schlecht's Residence!

Why? For fun and fellowship! We want you to get out of your kitchens this summer and have fun eating, playing, and talking as we celebrate the warm, dry summer evenings in Lexington.

How do I sign up to host? Sign up at Coffee Hour, contact the church office, or call Lisa Sandeen (781) 424-7937.

We still need a couple more Host Families. Host Families will provide a grill, a backyard or deck, as well as beverages (ie, ice tea, lemonade, water).

Parish Life will be happy to supply paper goods and condiments. Attending families bring their own meat, fish, or veggies to grill and a dessert or side dish to share! Lawn chairs or blankets are also recommended. Everyone is encouraged to RSVP the host family when possible.

Hancock Carillon sends 14 Representatives to NH Festival
Bells Festival 2013

If you've come by the church building recently, you may have noticed a surprisingly empty Bells Room over the weekend! Hancock Carillon sent 14 musicians to the Area I Handbell Festival/Conference, which includes all of New England and the Canadian Maritime provinces. They attended with 650 other ringers, through rain and humidity. Some highlights of the Festival included hearing and working in clinics with the Raleigh Ringers from Raleigh, North Carolina, and performing a concert ready piece after only 3 days of rehearsal! Bravo Hancock Carillon!

Hancock has an extensive Bells program including the Hancock Carillon, the Morning Glories, Marting to Glory, and the Junior Handbell Choir. If you'd like more information about joining next season, please contact Cheryl Kraley or Marilyn Becker at handbells@hancockchurch.org

 SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES

What's Up At Interfaith Garden?
Interfaith Garden 2013-4

Hancock works along with 12 other faith communities at a local garden growing produce that goes to the Lexington Food Pantry.  There's more than just healthy food being nurtured!  Camaraderie, fun chit chat and a sense of accomplishment flourishes as well.

On a recent Saturday we harvested 13 different varieties of produce, totaling over 40 pounds, and it was delivered to the pantry within an hour of picking.  Come check us out!  Invite a friend or family member. Hancock next sends volunteers 8 to 9:30am on the Saturdays of  Jul 20th, 27th and Aug 17th. For more info or to sign up to volunteer, contact Amy Swanson,
