All entrances to the building will be open this week.
Building access will change from day to day. We will keep you updated as best we can in the Weekly, but be sure to look out for signage at the front and back entrances! |

A Message from Alex Shea Will
"It has been such a wonderful year with y'all, first as your seminarian and now as Congregational Care Coordinator. For the months of July and August I will be away from Hancock, but I will be back in September! If you have a pastoral care need, please contact the church office. For those of you involved in the various ministries of congregational care, they will continue as usual with a bit of help from members of the congregation and the staff. I ask for your patience as they work these responsibilities in their schedules. Many blessings during these beautiful summer months; I look forward to joining you again in September!" |

Fire up your grill! Summer is here! Hancock Grills starts in July!
When? Every Wednesday, starting July 10 until August 28 from 6:30-8:30 pm Where? Hancock members' backyards or decks. In case of rain, these events will be cancelled. Why? For fun and fellowship! We want you to get out of your kitchens this summer and have fun eating, playing, and talking as we celebrate the warm, dry summer evenings in Lexington. How do I sign up to host? Sign up at Coffee Hour, contact the church office, or call Lisa Sandeen (781) 424-7937. Would anyone like to host on July 24? We need host families! Host Families will provide a grill, a backyard or deck, as well as beverages (ie, ice tea, lemonade, water). Parish Life will be happy to supply paper goods and condiments. Attending families bring their own meat, fish, or veggies to grill and a dessert or side dish to share! Lawn chairs or blankets are also recommended. Everyone is encouraged to RSVP the host family when possible. |
Congratulations to Sue Lalone for receiving her Christian Education Certification through the Massachusetts Conference of the United Church of Christ! To read more about the Christian Education Certification Program, go HERE. |

Bagels and Bibles will have a brief hiatus until July 7th
Have you been interested in reading "Who Wrote the Bible?" by Richard Elliott Friedman? Now is your chance to get caught up! Bagels and Bibles will take a brief hiatus due to the construction. Don't worry, though, we'll meet again at 9am on July 7th in the Kathie Stuart room. Join us as we continue our discussion of Old Testament history. Please visit our blog at BagelsAndBibles.wordpress.com or contact Kerra R. Fletcher at BagelsAndBibles@outlook.com if you have any questions. |

Work outdoors with the Landscaping Committee!
Do you love the outdoors, gardening, and visiting with fellow church members? If so, the landscaping committee (currently only three people) could use your help for a few hours three or four times a year. We would like to create a "go to" e-mail list of people willing to work with us to weed, edge, and trim. We would send an e-mail when we are working and if you are available, we would love your help. Many hands make light work! If you are interested or have questions contact Linda Williams @ lbwilliams@comcast.net. Thank you! |
Interfaith Garden May 2013 Garden Report Mark rinsing lettuce
The Interfaith Garden Angel watches over the veggies.
Read the latest garden report HERE.
The garden has been cleaned up from the winter, compost has been added and the first of the cool weather crops have been planted. Parsley, lettuce, beets, radishes, spinach and peas were planted to join the crops that wintered over (asparagus, strawberries and garlic). Hancock regularly joins members of 12 other churches and temples working at the garden. The produce will go to the Lexington Food Pantry. All are welcome...bring a friend, neighbor or your kids. There are plenty of times that extra help is needed...not just when Hancock is scheduled. If you are interested in working at the garden, contact Amy Swanson amy.swanson@rcn.com.
