Dear Members and Friends of Hancock Church,
All of us are in shock this afternoon, as two explosions have injured many near the finish line of the Boston Marathon. As I write at 4:00 pm it has become clear that at least two people have died, with dozens hurt. We are all making calls, I am sure, ascertaining the safety of our loved ones. At a time like this it is not always clear what should be done, but I am inviting any and all to join me in the sanctuary at Hancock tonight at 7:30 for prayer and to be together.
Please feel free to invite anyone to join us.
We will all need to pray for another, for our city, and and for our world.
Gracious God,
In this hour of pain and uncertainty,
bless the families and friends of those who have been killed; comfort them in their loss;
bless with your healing Spirit all those injured in body, mind, or spirit; reassured them of your love
bless all who are confused, frightened, uncertain in a suddenly chaotic world; remind them that you are God;
bring us together, unite us in the cause of peace, and the purposes of love.
In the name of Jesus,
Amen
Grace and Peace,
Paul
