Support Seņora Diaz:  Come join us before the Raider Football home opener on Friday, Sept. 2nd vs Pope as we gather together to show our support for Team Christina!  The game will be a "Teal Out" on both sides of the stadium in support of Seņora Christina Diaz, our World Languages Department Chair, who received a severe diagnosis of cancer a few weeks ago.  Christina's daughter, Sophia, is a sophomore at Pope.  Pope and Walton are banning together to show our support for the Diaz family who has impacted so many of our lives.  Please wear a teal shirt to the football game on September 2nd .  "Team Christina" t-shirts will be available for purchase for $10 outside the commons during lunch periods Wednesday - Friday and at the game (if not sold out before then).  We will have a Team Christina Rally at 7pm prior to game time at 7:30.  Go Raiders!  Go Team Christina!

Every Student Succeeds Act:  Judy McNeill is urging anyone interested in the future of Georgia's public education system to attend one of eight public feedback sessions on the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA).
ESSA is the replacement for the law commonly known as No Child Left Behind - offers an enormous opportunity to reshape Georgia's education system.  This new law allows states and local districts to develop plans addressing standards (what children are required to learn), testing, school and district accountability (including school ratings), and special help for struggling schools and students.

We strongly encourage you, and your colleagues, to attend the feedback session in Atlanta on Wednesday, September 14th from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at North Learning Center, 450 Northridge Parkway, Atlanta 30350. Please contact  waltonpresident@gmail.com if you are interested in attending.

Buy your yearbook now:  Yearbooks are on sale for $90 right now. The price will go up the first of October. Don't be caught off guard and forget to order-do it today! Yearbooks can be purchased on line. Click HERE to order your Walton Yearbook or go to the Walton website.

Legislative
The GA Secretary of State's office has officially released the numbering of the proposed constitutional amendments and their preamble language on this fall's ballot, including the language for the controversial state takeover of local schools (Amendment #1).

Pay close attention to what you are voting for and realize that the language on the ballot is intentionally deceiving. Vote NO on Amendment 1!  For more information, check out Georgia PTA's OSD Toolkit.
