Career Fair for students on March 2 during WEB: From 1-2 pm, professionals from a variety of career fields will join us to talk one on one with students about their careers. These professionals will have tables set up in the Atrium, outside the Theater and near the Gym. Students can visit whichever professionals they wish and ask questions to get first hand information about what motivated these professionals to choose their careers, the educational requirements, the challenges and rewards of their daily routines and the projected growth trends in their field. An ice cream truck will be on hand with treats for participating students! Parents, please encourage your students to participate!
Parent Volunteers needed for Career Fair on March 2: Parents, we are still in need of some professionals in the fields of Architecture, STEM, and Media to spend one hour of time at Walton sitting down with students to discuss their careers, what their job entails on a daily basis, and the challenges and rewards of these daily routines. If you would be interested in participating, please email Ellen Melcher.
Self Defense Classes: On Tuesday, March 15, the PTSA is sponsoring a Self Defense and Awareness Clinic for the Walton community (students, teachers, parents, and friends) from 7-9 pm in Walton's Auxiliary Gym. This course is offered at a reduced rate of $39 but is free of charge to WHS students who have taken on-line health classes. On Wednesday, March 16, the PTSA is sponsoring a FREE Senior Girls' Self Defense class from 1-3 pm during WEB in the Auxiliary Gym. These classes are taught by Steven Spivey, of Max Defense, who believes anyone can learn to use the "great equalizers: adrenaline and fear" to successfully defend themselves against a stronger opponent. For more information and to register, go to Self Defense.
Education Town Hall: Wheeler PTSA invites all to a town hall panel which includes Claire Suggs from the Georgia Budget & Policy Institute, Cobb School Board member Scott Sweeney, and a representative from the Cobb Chamber of Commerce. This event is open to parents, teachers, students, and community members. Date: Tuesday, February 23rd at 7 pm in the Wheeler High School Cafeteria, 375 Holt Road, Marietta. Test Out Option: In the 2015-16 school year, eligible students will have the opportunity to 'Test Out' of any EOC course they are taking in the fall. In order to Test Out, a student may participate in the administration of an End-of-Course Test prior to enrolling in and taking the course. This opportunity is available for any EOC course test a student is taking in the 2016-17 school year. Please go to the WHS website for more information.
