Junior Parent/Student Meeting: Preparing for the College Application Process Q&A with a College Panel on Monday, February 29, 2016 at 6:30 p.m in Walton's Main Gym. Please note this is a change in location. Panel will include representatives from: Georgia Tech, Furman University, Georgia State University, Georgia College (GCSU), and University of Alabama.
Grade Site: We have a new provider for the Walton grade site. The new URL is www.walton2.net. You may also access the new site through the Walton website. If you have created a favorite for the grade site, you will need to update it. Grades will be available starting Friday, January 22, 2016.
2015-16 Georgia Parent Survey: We would like to encourage all Walton High School parents to complete the 2015-16 Georgia Parent Survey. The survey can be accessed here. .
Mentors Needed: Thank you to all of you who have signed up to be Career Coaches for our Walton students. We are in need of more coaches and ask that you consider this opportunity. As a Walton Career Coach, you will have the opportunity to help mentor Walton students as they begin exploring their future careers. Georgia PTA is opposed to the proposed constitutional amendment regarding the Opportunity School District. To learn more, click here. In last week's State of the State address, Governor Deal called for a 3% raises for teachers (only teachers, not administrators or staff), but when the budget was released, it included a $100/month increase in health care costs for every non-certified educational employee (bus drivers, para-pros, secretaries, cafeteria workers, custodians, etc). That comes on top of a $100 million increase for districts this year to pay for coverage for more than 20,000 part-time school workers and their dependents. Please let your elected officials know the importance of fully funding public education, including the support services that school systems rely on.
