Grade Site: We have a new provider for the Walton grade site. The new URL is www.walton2.net. You may also access the new site through the Walton website. If you have created a favorite for the grade site, you will need to update it. Grades will be available starting Friday, January 22, 2016.
2015-16 Georgia Parent Survey: We would like to encourage all Walton High School parents to complete the 2015-16 Georgia Parent Survey. This survey is an anonymous, statewide survey instrument modeled after the Georgia Student Health Survey and the Georgia School Personnel Survey. The goal is to measure school climate issues that may have a negative impact on student achievement. Data from these surveys will be used to calculate the School Climate Star Rating for Walton within the College and Career Readiness Performance Index (CCRPI) and determine correlations between the student and school personnel responses. While data results from the Georgia Parent Survey will not be available to the public and will not be posted online, your participation is key to Walton reaching the CCRPI "Exceeding the Bar" indicator for School Climate.
The Georgia Parent Survey contains 24 questions and can be accessed via personal computers, smartphones, or I-pads. To facilitate access, computer labs will be available for parents to complete the survey during Walton's Spring Open House on January 21st. Computer labs in the Media Center, the English Writing Lab in B-220, and the Social Studies Computer Lab in G-120 will be available for parent use. The survey can also be accessed here.
Mentors Needed: Thank you to all of you who have signed up to be Career Coaches for our Walton students. We are in need of more coaches and ask that you consider this opportunity. As a Walton Career Coach, you will have the opportunity to help mentor Walton students as they begin exploring their future careers. The 2016 session of the Georgia General Assembly began last Monday and highlights from the week included Gov. Deal's State of the State Address and the release of the budgets. Gov. Deal spoke directly about the work of the Education Reform Commission and had some specific words for teachers. Read the full speech here. In sum, he stated that Georgia will take it slow with the ideas in the Education Reform Commission, and may not propose legislation this year. He also spoke to involving teachers in the reform process. This year, he is proposing monies that should be able to fund a 3% raise for teachers and other state employees.
