Education Funding update: Please take note of the potential changes to the school funding formula and the impact the new formula would have on the state of Georgia and Cobb county. Under the proposed formula, Cobb County School District would receive $471.1 million, a 1.49% increase over this year's level of funding from the state. However, this amount is $28.7 million less than what the current funding formula calls for and is the smallest percentage increase in the metro area. This is a cause for great concern and creates a need for parents to make their voices heard. We have provided these resources for you to become informed about the details of this issue and information on how you can advocate for our public school system.
- Q and A about the state of educational funding in Georgia
- Policy Report on the new school funding formula from the Georgia Budget and Policy Institute
- Next Steps you can take to make your opinion heard, including contact information
- Sample letter to legislators concerning the future of educational funding
The PTSA urges all members and stakeholders to contact the members of the Education Reform Commission as well as your elected officials to advocate for the future of our public education system. Thank you.
