News, Resources and Volunteer Opportunities
Managing stress, testing and teachers: If your students are feeling anxious during tests, stressed, or overwhelmed, then encourage them to take advantage of the next Raiders' Choice program on November 4th from 1:00 - 1:45 in the A-gym. Coach Loughran will work with students on ways to help manage their stress, put things into perspective, manage their schedules, prioritize and work well with their teachers. This is a terrific opportunity for our students. A 45 minute investment of their time could create significant benefits for them now and during finals in December.

Registration information: Students will receive their spring course selections on Monday, November 1.  During lunch periods, students will have the opportunity to alter one semester elective class only.  Academic teachers will verify or make any necessary level change recommendations. Waivers for spring semester are due by November 13th.

Volunteers Needed: The Media Center is holding its Scholastic Book Fair on Nov 12-20. Please volunteer for a sales shift during lunches. To sign up click here. Any questions please contact Archana Patel at archana301@yahoo.com.

Officer & Custodian Appreciation Week:  Let's give a big "Thank You" to Officer Miller and our incredible custodial staff.  Officer & Custodian Appreciation week will be held the week of November 2-6, 2015 culminating with a luncheon on Friday, Nov. 6.  See how you can help - Officer Miller & Custodian Appreciation Week

Join our team of Walton Career Coaches! As a Walton Career Coach, you will have the opportunity to help mentor Walton students as they begin exploring their future careers. You can decide how much time you would be able to give and how you would like to participate in the program.  You could exchange emails with interested students, conduct informational interviews, or invite students to shadow you at work for a few hours to experience your job first hand. We are very excited about what these interactions can provide for our students as they begin determining their college and career goals and to make this happen, we need your help! If you can join this group of Walton Career Coaches and help to encourage, educate and inspire our promising Walton students, click Walton Career Coach.

Education Forum
1. Who are the people making the decisions that impact the content and quality of education?
2.  What's it like to talk to an elected official when you call his/her office about an issue?
3.  How easy is it to fix the education budget?
4.  What steps can you take to get involved?

You will learn the answers to these questions and much more at the Education Forum on November 10, 2015 at 7 pm.  We will be meeting in the Walton Theater.  Please have a representative from every household attend this meeting.
From the Nurse
I do not have a direct phone line in the clinic. My number is 770-578-3225, ext 242. The missed number on your caller ID (770-578-3256) is not a functioning number.  If it is necessary that I reach you right away, I will always leave a message on one of the contact numbers I have for your child. I will leave the phone number (and ext) for the clinic so please listen to the message and note the correct number. If not time sensitive, I will communicate via email.  I hope this will help with the confusion when trying to return a call to the clinic.
For Seniors
Financial Aid Night: The Walton Counseling Department will host a financial aid night for parents of seniors. Mark your calendar for Monday, November 2nd at 6:30pm in the theater at Dodgen Middle School.  A representative from the Georgia Student Finance Commission will provide information on scholarships, grants, loans, work study and the HOPE program.  Please join us for this informative evening.
For Juniors
For Parents of Juniors: Walton's Senior Evening of Inspiration is a wonderful relaxed event planned entirely by the seniors. They choose the emcees, the speakers and the entertainment. Senior parents keep the kids on schedule and help with logistics.  We would love to have a few junior parents shadow this years  co-chairs and take the lead next year!  If you are interested please contact Sarajane Fletcher or Arzu Ozyazgan.
For Sophmores
Attention Sophomores:  Hearing & Vision Retests will be Tuesday November 3rd. If you missed the screening last week OR you were told to return for a retest, please WEAR your glasses/contact lenses to the screening.
