Support our construction workers:  As you know, the construction workers have been working 12-hour days in extreme heat to work on our new school and we want to say Thanks!  So, before your student heads out for school, ask them to grab a Gatorade or Powerade out of the pantry for these guys.  They can attach a note of thanks if they want and drop it in the bin near the front office.  Rachel's Challenge Club will be sure to deliver them. Thanks!

East Cobb CHADD will hold its first meeting on Sept. 8, 6:30 - 8:00 pm, at the Northeast Cobb Community Center. For more information, click here: East Cobb CHADD.
From the Foundation
The WHS Foundation is pleased to offer Naviance Informational Sessions for all interested parents during the week of September 14th. WHS adopted the Naviance System this year to assist our students and parents in the college application process. The Counseling Department has been working with students to assist them in setting up their student account and will continue this process until each student account is active.  Parents are also encouraged to set up a Parent account to monitor their student's e-Documents and to explore the incredible resources for choosing a college and career available through the Naviance system. To register for one of the 30 minute informational sessions, please click here: WHS Foundation's Naviance Informational Sessions.

The Foundation is excited to partner with Zeal Kitchen and Bar to bring additional iPads to Walton! Find out how you can enjoy a fantastic evening out and help Walton students at the same time! Visit the Foundation's webpage for more information: WHS Foundation.

From the Counselors
PSAT Information and Registration:  The PSAT will be administered on Wednesday, October 14th during the school day.  The 10th graders are already registered as the State pays for their test.  If you have a 9th or 11th grader and have not already paid for them to take the test, please do so ASAP.  The cost is $15.00.  Please have your child come the records room and see Mrs. Schrenk.  THERE IS NO FORM TO COMPLETE.  She will receipt their money and mark them as registered.  If they are not taking the PSAT, 9th graders will be assigned to a silent study hall and 11th graders will be taking the ASVAB exam.
This test is particularly important as it will be the first opportunity for the class of 2017 and beyond to experience the redesigned PSAT.  This test will aide them in their preparation for the redesigned SAT that begins in March of 2016.  This test is also a requirement of 11th graders who are pursuing the National Merit Scholarship.  For more information, please visit the counselor's page: PSAT and SAT
