News, Resources and Volunteer Opportunities

Thank you for your patience during Orientation this week as we implemented our new online membership system. We apologize for any delays that were caused.  Registering your family's information in the system only has to be completed one time. Your family's information will be kept in the system for next year, making your entry in the directory, as well as the purchasing of your PTSA membership, calendar, and directory for next year a much simpler process.  If you have not signed up on line yet, and would like to be included in the school directory, please go to waltonptsa.org to register.  As always, we are extremely thankful for your support and we are looking forward to another exciting school year for our Walton students.

Bus routes:  Bus routes for the for the 2015-2016 can be accessed using the online bus route query system to identify the appropriate stop time, location and bus number for your children. Please click here to be connected to the Cobb County website: Bus Routes

Parking & Carpool Information:  Due to the construction at Walton, there are changes to the carpool procedures, visitor parking, and the visitors' entrance to the school.  All visitors will be parking in the new parking area in front of the school and entering the school through the E Hall Entrance that faces Bill Murdock Road. Vocabulary and Class Fee Information:  The front office will not be able to accept the School Sales Forms that were used during Orientation to purchase items from the school and pay class dues. If your child did not purchase their Vocabulary books during orientation, he/she may purchase it during their English class. Books will cost $20. If your child is a Senior taking AP Literature, the price will be $6.50.  Your child may pay their Jr/Sr. Dues in the Front office. This fee is paid once during your student's junior OR senior year and includes Prom tickets for junior and senior year, Senior Breakfast,  Senior Picnic, Graduation expenses & other class activities. This fee is $80. You may pay for the PSAT test during October (10th grade test fees are paid by the county). Remember, no credit cards are accepted!  Please send cash (correct change, please) or a check for each item. Thank you for your cooperation!

Spirit Shop:  Visit the Spirit Shop for all your Walton spirit wear! The Spirit Shop is located next to the Commons and is open most Fridays from 10:30 - 1:30. We will also be open during Open House on August 19th. Although Target, Walmart and Kroger are selling Walton spirit wear, none of the profits from those sales go back to the school. If you purchase from the Spirit Shop, all profits benefit Walton. Please support the Spirit Shop!!

Volunteers needed for WEB attendance:  Would you like to get involved at Walton this year? Join the WEB Volunteer committee and get the opportunity to interact with students, staff and parents. You would be involved in checking students out of school on WEB days and learn about some of the inner workings of the school. As a volunteer, you may choose between two convenient afternoon shifts. WEB is typically on Wednesdays and begins at 12:45 to 3:45PM. WEB is an excellent opportunity for the students to catch up on their studies and get one on one help from their teachers. Walton relies on parent volunteers to make this valuable time possible. Please consider joining the WEB Volunteer committee. Thank you!  You can email  Martha Stevens at mangelstevens@gmail.com or sign up at the link below here.

Volunteers needed for the Media Center: The media center is looking for volunteers for WEB days, regular media center duties, and inventory. For WEB days, you would be involved in checking students in and out of school.  To sign up for WEB duties, please click here.  For regular media center duties, we ask that you plan to work a one to two hour shift, but you may not need to stay that long. You may work any time on your designated day during normal media center hours. To sign up please click hereFor inventory, we use a computer and a hand held scanner to scan every book on the shelves. To sign up for inventory click hereQuestions? Please contact Archana Patel at archana301@yahoo.com.
Changes to Front Office Procedures

Important Message to Parents from the Administration:  With the ongoing construction of our new school, there are several changes that will impact YOU, the parents, directly!  We strongly discourage parents from dropping off student lunches, homework, forgotten items, clothing items for students to change into, etc. Not only do we want to teach our Walton students responsibility, but it will be much more inconvenient for parents this year to drop off such items. All visitors will enter the building through the E Hall entrance that faces Bill Murdock Road. Parents will sign in at the desk and walk the item(s) to the volunteer in the front office. No items will be accepted at the E Hall entrance.  Additionally, please DO NOT park in the fire lane.  You are to park in a visitor's spot (B130 - B139) to enter the building. Let's use this opportunity to encourage your teenager to take responsibility for their own items!
