News, Resources and Volunteer Opportunities

Orientation on Wednesday, July 29: Orientation for the 2015-2016 school year will be held on Wednesday, July 29 at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church in the Fellowship Hall/Magnolia Room.  More details will be provided in future eBlasts and the PTSA summer edition of The Raider Review that will be delivered to each household.

Make Orientation Quick and Easy: Visit the new PTSA website at www.waltonptsa.org where you can enter information for the directory, join the PTSA, sign up to volunteer, and order the directory and calendar. Once you have completed your order, you can easily check out with PayPal and pay for your items on your debit card or credit card. Everything will be ready for you at Orientation.

Newcomer's Orientation: If you are transferring into Walton this fall as a sophomore, junior or senior, we would like to welcome you!  We will have a special Newcomer's Orientation session just for you on Friday, August 1st at 9:00 a.m.  Parents and students are encouraged to attend.  Watch for an invitation with more details, but please mark your calendar and make plans to join us!

For Seniors

Yearbook Information: The information for the senior tributes and ordering yearbooks is now on the Walton web site: Senior page. The links to order a tribute and buy a book are both active.

Legacy Photographers is our official school photographer. They were at Walton last week taking senior formal and casual pictures and will be back the week before school starts. Appointments can be made by emailing kevin@legacystudios.com or calling his cell at 404-242-1060. Studio7 is not the Walton school photographer; we recommend that seniors use Legacy for senior pictures.

Senior Parking: If you would like to receive a parking space for fall semester, visit the Student Parking page on Walton's website for instructions.

For Freshmen

English department study group available for Animal Farm assignment: The Walton 9th grade English teachers are offering a two-hour study session for rising 9th graders. Students will review elements of the plot diagram, receive an introduction to characterization, and use this information to work on their summer reading assignment. The date for the study group is Wednesday, July 15th at Walton High School. Register for the time that best suits your schedule, either 10:00-12:00 pm or 2:00-4:00 pm (choose one). Bring the following: your copy of Animal Farm, a hard copy of the summer reading assignment, and a laptop/tablet if you are typing your assignment. To register, click here:

From the Foundation
Walton's Foundation launched an exciting new project recently: The Raider Commemorative Brick Project. Walton families past and present can now leave a lasting legacy at Walton.  Funds raised through the Raider Brick Project will be used to improve technology initiatives in the classroom and enhance the student learning experience.  The bricks will be periodically added to the wall outside the Raider Valley Stadium.  Click here to read more about the project: The Raider Commemorative Brick Project.
