The 2015 Jackie Auerbach Award. The WHS PTSA is proud to sponsor the Jackie Auerbach award to recognize the extraordinary contributions Walton Staff Members make, not only to educating our children, but to enhancing their overall high school experience. To nominate a staff member who is deserving of this special recognition, please visit our webpage: Jackie Auerbach award. Nominations must be received by the front office no later than 4:00 pm on May 4, 2015.
Zero period registration: The deadline to submit registration and payment for zero hours courses for the 2015-16 school year is Friday, March 27th.
Last letter jacket fitting of the year: Wednesday, April 1st (no fooling), 7:40am - 8:10am, outside the Commons. Delivery Date is May 21st. Forms will be available in the front office.
Beach Book Giveaway. The Media Center is sponsoring its 2nd annual Beach Book Giveaway during May. They are collecting books for readers of all ages. The books will be displayed in the media center and offered free to students, teachers, staff and visitors. The Media Center is hoping to have a wide variety of books that patrons can select, books for children, students, siblings, parents, grandparents, friends and neighbors. As you do your spring cleaning, please consider donating used books in good condition to the Media Center. Books can be dropped off at the front desk Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. now through May 2. Contact Barb Beaver (Barbara.beaver@cobbk12.org) with questions, to arrange for pick-up, or to schedule a different drop-off time. Thanks for helping us support literacy and a love for reading in the Walton community.
PTSA Bylaw Modification. WHS PTSA Board of Directors has approved an amendment to our By-Laws. We will hold a vote on this amendment at our April 20, 5:30 p.m. General Meeting. Upcoming Seminars at Pope HS: On Tuesday, March 24th at 7:00pm in Pope's theater, Pope HS PTSA will host J. Tom Morgan, Defense Attorney and Author of "Ignorance is No Defense, A Teenager's Guide to Georgia Law," which explains over 100 Georgia laws that impact teenagers. On Tuesday, March 31 at 9:30am and again at 7:00pm, Barrett and Jenifer Johnson of INFO for Families (Imperfect Normal Families Only) will host a parent seminar entitled "Helping Our Kids Navigate a Hyper-Sexualized Culture."

The Foundation's Campaign to raise funds to keep class sizes at their current size is coming to a close on April 3rd. We have another excellent video created by our Broadcast/Video Production students featuring Irene Barton, 9th District PTA Director. Survival Kits: Spring into Action! Get ready for the Spring Survival Kits. This year treat your student (with all those extensive tests!) to a fun pack with a personalized message, great snacks, a Walton surprise, and more. You can order now and get more info at Survival Kits. Cost is $12 per kit. All proceeds benefit the students and teachers at Walton.

PTSA Raider Pride Scholarship: Seniors who have won the Raider Pride Award at any time during their WHS career are eligible to apply for the Raider Pride Scholarship Award. These $1000 Scholarships will be awarded to one Senior male and one Senior female at Honors Night by the WHS PTSA. Applications and letters of recommendation should be turned in to the front office by 4:00pm on Friday, April 3. Graduation: All information about the commencement ceremony for the Class of 2015 is now posted to the senior page of the Walton website. Please be aware the deadline to request extra tickets is Friday, March 27th.To visit, click here: Senior page.
Class of 2015 Volunteer Cords at Graduation: In order to earn a volunteer cord, Seniors must earn 180 hours. The deadline to submit hours online is Friday, April 3rd.

Walton's Clinic Visit Procedure: Parents please go over this procedure with your student so that they know what to do if they need to come to the clinic. *A Pass is REQUIRED to come to the Clinic. Please get a Pass from your teacher before coming to the Clinic. If it is between classes, please go to the NEXT class to check in and get a pass from that teacher. You are welcome to come between classes without a Pass for Band-Aids, contact solution or ice. *Please carry your own bottle of Tylenol or Motrin(NO ziplock bags!) & cough drops. The Clinic does not supply over-the-counter medicine. Thank you! Nurse Evans

Save your "Cool Things" for "Cool Girls!" The PTSA Community Outreach Club will hold its annual Cool Girls Drive April 20-24. Start saving gently used accessories, pajamas and room décor for school age girls, then bring your donations to the front office during the drive. You will get a donation receipt, clean out a spot in your closet and make a special "Cool Girl" very happy!
Random Acts of Kindness Club sponsors Book Drive. We are conducting a book drive for 1st graders at Eastvalley Elementary, many of whom do not have many books in their homes. Please bring in your new or gently used children's books to either Mrs. Merlin's Room in G104, Coach Kay's Room in G111, or to the front office! This is a great time to clean off the shelves full of your children's old books (we cannot accept any books with religious or political content). All books need to be turned in by March 23rd. We greatly appreciate the continued support from our wonderful Walton community!

Walton Cheer Try Outs: There will be a Walton Cheer Try Out Meeting for rising 9-12th grades on March 25th at 7pm in The Commons. *Bring a parent * Try out packets can be found in the front office. Try Outs will be the week of April 20-24.
