School Pictures This WEEK!

Walton High School Pictures will be taken this Thursday (Sophomores) and Friday(Freshmen). Students received hard copies of the order forms in homeroom Monday, August 25.  For a printable copy of the form and more details, click here: SCHOOL PICTURES ORDER FORM

PSAT TESTING: The National PSAT test will be administered on Wed., 10/15 at Walton during the school day.  We strongly recommend all 9th, 10th, and 11th graders take this test.  The state pays for all 10th graders to test, but 9th & 11th graders must register and pay.  If you did not pay for this test during Orientation, you may pay during Freshman Parent Night, or during school in the Records Room. Cost $14, checks payable to WHS or exact change! 

 

PROBE College Fair:  Sponsored by WHS and Walton's PTSA, the PROBE College Fair will be held at North Point Mall on Tuesday, 9/23 from 6-9pm. Speak with College representatives about a range of topics. To pre-register and for more information, visit the website PROBE COLLEGE FAIR   

SENIORS ONLY

SENIOR PICTURES AT WALTON:  Due to high demand, Studio7 will be at school to take senior pictures on Thursday, 8/28, after 3:30pm and again on Friday, 9/5 from 8:30-5. Tops and drapes provided. 

(Seniors who want their formal pictures in the yearbook and have not had them taken can sign up in Ms Manheim's room B211.)There is a $25 sitting fee for formal pictures and a $35 sitting fee for formals and casuals. If your student wants to appear in the formal section of the yearbook and does not want to see the proofs, there is no charge to have a picture taken. Studio7 will send these pictures directly to the yearbook staff. All formal, baby and casual pictures will be turned in during homeroom the following week. Seniors Who Attended Mt. Bethel Elementary:  Groups photos will be taken on Monday, 9/1 (Labor Day) for a Walton yearbook tribute page. Students should meet at Mt. Bethel Elementary at 6 p.m. sharp. Cost is $20, which covers tribute page and an 8x10 copy for each student. Please bring cash for payment.

 

SENIOR PARENTS: Do you want to be involved in the opening event of your child's Senior year? Then attend the Senior Breakfast organizing meeting Wed. 9/3, 2:30-3:30pm (no WEB) in the B-Hall Conference Room.  Click here to sign upYES! I'll BE THERE!!! 

JUST JUNIORS

JUNIOR PARKING SPACES To enter the lottery for Junior Parking: Write your name on a slip of paper and drop it in a box, which will be located in the front office, from AUG 25-28. Students who enter more than once will be disqualified from the lottery. On Friday, 8/29, the drawing for junior parking will take place.  Students who are picked will be notified that day and given further instruction to complete the registration process. Do not register online unless you are instructed to do so!

 

WHS Foundation Information

KROGER PLUS CARDS=EASY MONEY FOR WALTON!  Link your Kroger Plus cards to Walton Facilities Foundation under the Kroger Community Rewards program, and Kroger will send reward funds to the WHSF that are designated for teacher grants at Walton!  To enroll, go to  KROGER CASH FOR WALTON for registration instructions.  If you have already registered, please go to www.Kroger.com to re-enroll your Kroger Plus Card before August 31 so your purchases will continue to earn cash for Walton. Log into your account, click on the My Account Button, scroll down to Community Rewards Button and click re-enroll for WFF#95968.  

 ATHLETICS: GO RAIDERS!!!!

RALLY in the VALLEY The Lady Raider Lacrosse team will host their annual 7v7 tournament Sept. 6th & 7th from 9am-3pm in Raider Valley. September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month and a portion of the proceeds of "RALLY in the VALLEY" is given to childhood cancer research. If you are interested in volunteering or would like to earn service hours at this event, please email ritvlax@yahoo.com for more information. Please support "Rally in the Valley" and your Raiders as they "click sticks against cancer".

National English Honor Society (NEHS)  The WHS English Dept. is accepting applications for membership in the NEHS.  Juniors and Seniors who are interested should contact Ms. Burwell (B-204) at hannah.burwell@cobbk12.org to receive an application and information on the required qualifications.  The deadline to apply is 3:30pm on 9/11.

 

For PARENTS: Resources and Volunteer Opportunities

PTSA Community Support Opportunity : Do you miss being an elementary school classroom volunteer? We need you!  Brumby Elementary is in need of parent volunteers to help in classrooms during school hours. Volunteering will begin week of 9/8 and runs until the end of school year. PTSA Media Center Volunteers: Now that your student is settled back into the school routine, are you looking to help out at Walton?  The media center needs you!  On regular school days, it can be as little as one hour ANYTIME during the school day.  On WEB days, we need volunteers from 12:30 to 3.   Contact the PTSA Media Center Chairman, Carolyn Cardiou at http://carolyn.cadiou@gmail.com  to volunteer.
