FALL OPEN HOUSE will be held on Wed. 8/20. Because of parking constraints, there will be two identical sessions. The first will begin at 3:45pm and the second will begin at 6:30pm
(O period at 6:20.) Come meet your student's teachers and walk their schedule!
PTSA General Meeting: will be held in the Theater at 5:30pm, between the OpenHouse sessions. Please join us to hear school news from Walton Administrators, learn about the peer tutoring programs at Walton, discover service opportunities for your student and the impact of the PTSA Community Outreach Club in East Cobb.
AP Human Geography teachers will have an informational meeting between OpenHouses from 5:30-6:15 in the Media Center. We hope to address questions and concerns about our class and the AP program, especially for parents who are going through their first AP
class with one of their children.

PSAT TESTING: The National PSAT test will be administered on Wed., 10/15 at Walton during the school day. We strongly recommend all 9th, 10th, and 11th graders take this test. The state pays for all 10th graders to test, but 9th & 11th graders must register and pay. If you did not pay for this test during Orientation, you may pay at Open House (outside the Guidance Office), during Freshman Parent Night, or during school in the Records Room. Cost $14, checks payable to WHS or exact change!
TEST OUT OPTION FOR EOCT: A policy that has been in place since 2013-2014 provides students with the option of "Testing Out" of certain high school courses. Students who are registered to take Economics may participate in the test out option for that course only this fall. Please visit this link for details, registration procedures and deadlines. WALTON GRADE SITE: If you have a 9th grade student or a student new to Walton, please complete the BLUE WALTON GRADE SITE form your child brought home the first week of school and return it to their Homeroom Advisor with a self-addressed envelope.You will receive a confirmation once the form has been processed. The GRADE SITE will be available for viewing on 8/21 after the OPEN HOUSE. Additional forms are available in the Records Room Office.

Newcomers Coffee and Pizza Party

The PTSA Newcomers Committee invites parents that are new to the Walton Community to a Welcome Coffee to be held on Friday, August 22, at 10:00am at the home of Hillary Hill. Students that have moved into the area are invited to the upcoming Newcomer Student Pizza Party to be held on Saturday, August 23, at 1:00pm in the Commons at Walton. SENIOR PICTURES AT WALTON: Studio7 will be at school to take senior pictures on Tuesday, 8/26, and Thursday, 8/28, after 3:30pm. Seniors who want their formal pictures in the yearbook and have not had them taken can sign up in Ms Manheim's room B211. If parents want to see proofs and pick out pictures, there is a $25.00 sitting fee. Tux tops and drapes provided. For details, click Senior Pictures
Seniors who attended Sope Creek ES or who live in the Atlanta Country Club: Group photos will be taken for a WHS Yearbook Tribute page on Sunday, 8/24. Sope Creek grads should meet at the Sope Creek Playground at 3:00pm. ACC residents meet at the firepit at 3:45pm in McFarlane Park. Cost will be divided among the number of students who are in the photo; bring a check or cash to pay.
COLLEGE APPLICATION PROCESS: The School Counseling Department will present two programs on the College Application Process. On Monday, 8/18, at 6:30pm in the Walton Theater, there will be a meeting focusing on Highly Selective Colleges: what they offer, their student profile, how to select the college, apply, interview, etc. This meeting will be for both parents and students. There will be a second Senior Information Night on Monday, 8/25, at 6:30pm in the Walton Theater. This meeting will focus on the college search and application process, and financial aid. This information session is for parents. Please choose to attend the session(s) that you feel is most appropriate for your student.

JUNIOR PARKING SPACES: To enter the lottery for Junior Parking: Write your name on a slip of paper and drop it in a box, which will be located in the front office, from AUG 25-28. Students who enter more than once will be disqualified from the lottery. On Friday, 8/29, the drawing for junior parking will take place. Students who are picked will be notified that day and given further instruction to complete the registration process. Do not register online unless you are instructed to do so!

FRESHMAN PICNIC : Get ready for fun and food with your friends at the Freshman Picnic. This PTSA sponsored event will be held during WEB on Aug. 27! Mark your calendar now!

ATHLETICS: GO RAIDERS!!!!

RALLY in the VALLEY: The Lady Raider Lacrosse team will host their annual 7v7 tournament Sept. 6th & 7th from 9am-3pm in Raider Valley. September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month and a portion of the proceeds of "RALLY in the VALLEY" is given to childhood cancer research. If you are interested in volunteering or would like to earn service hours at this event, please email ritvlax@yahoo.com for more information. Please support "Rally in the Valley" and your Raiders as they "click sticks against cancer".
SPIRIT WEAR: T-shirts for the first football game will be on sale for $6.00 during all lunch periods through Thursday this week.
LETTER JACKETS : There will be a letter jacket "fitting" on 8/27 from 7:40-8:10am, outside the Commons. Order forms will be available in the front office by 8/13.
