Join us for Walton 101 where parents of rising freshmen can get answers to questions like "What are WEB and PPO?", "How do I find out what's going on at the school?", "How do I contact my student's teachers?" and many others. We'll meet at the East Cobb Gov't Center at 4400 Lower Roswell Rd. You can attend one of three sessions: April 28th 9:30-11:00am or 7-830p or on April 29th 7:00-8:30pm. See you there!

State mandated End of Course Tests will be given April 28th- May 9th. For students in the Class of 2015 and beyond, these exams comprise 20% of the overall grade. For the Class of 2014, these exams comprise 15% of the overall grade. All tests will be given online and
ATTENDANCE IS ESSENTIAL!

The Walton Media Center is collecting books for readers of all ages for the first annual Beach Book Giveaway. The books will be displayed in the media center and offered free to students, teachers, staff and visitors. As you do your spring cleaning, please consider donating used books in good condition to the Media Center. Books can be dropped off at the front desk Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. now through May 2. Contact Barb Beaver (Barbara.beaver@cobbk12.org) if you have any questions about the program, need to arrange for pick-up, or need to schedule a different drop-off time.

Calendar Cover Art Contest |
PTSA is gearing up for the 2014-2015 school year. Talented student artists are invited to submit entries for the calendar cover. The theme for next year is:

Mind Body Spirit
Entries must be submitted on 8 1/2 x 11 paper to the Front Office or through email to kellievertsen@comcast.net
. Deadline for submission is Wednesday, April 30.

Wanted: Media Center Volunteer Coordinators
|
The current media center volunteer coordinator is graduating at the end of this year. Positions available for 2014-15 include
1) Volunteer Coordinator - schedule volunteers for regular media center duties; moderate time commitment at start of school year, minimal time throughout year.
2) Scholastic Book Fair Coordinator -schedule volunteers for November Book Fair; may also choose to promote fair, place orders, & finalize account.
3) Powder Puff Coordinator - schedule volunteers for various Powder Puff events; may also choose to assist media staff w/ publicity & promotion. (February - April)

Walton Fall Color Guard Auditions
|
Walton Fall Color Guard Auditions are being held on Mon, April 28 and Tues, April 29 from 5-7:30pm in the Walton Band room. The color guard performs with the Raider Marching Band during the fall season at football games and marching competitions. In January 2015, they will travel to Pasadena, California to march in the Rose Bowl Parade. This is a great opportunity for your child to get involved and show their Raider Spirit. Come join the FUN!

Members of the PTSA are well aware of the extraordinary contributions Walton Staff Members make on a daily basis not only to educate our children, but also to enhance their overall high school experience. WALTON HIGH SCHOOL WILL LOSE (-1) TEACHER FOR THE UPCOMING 2014-2015 SCHOOL YEAR
* MAY 16TH is the goal to receive donations to allow WHS to hire for the August 4th, 2014 start date
* $200 PER STUDENT = $520,000 =6- 8 NEW TEACHERS!!!!
* Donations will be directed to hire teachers in key curriculum areas as determined by administration.

You are invited to a fun hour of music "Through the Years" as Walton Chorus presents its annual Spring Concert.
Tuesday, April 29 at 7:30 pm, Johnson Ferry Baptist Church. Free. The choirs will sing songs from the 50's - the present. That's right - "Who Put the Bomp," "Backstreet Boys" to "Wake Me Up." You'll leave with a smile!
