**Information Regarding Snow Days**
|
Please remind your children that they should be ready to continue when they return on Wed, Feb 19th with any assessments that were planned on the snow days.
Also, The Cobb County School District has delayed the issuing of progress reports by one week. Progress reports will be sent home on Wednesday, February 26th. |
We have some potential good news to share with you all. We heard from Superintendent Hinojosa at the Teacher of the Year Luncheon on 2/6 that the additional State funding proposed by Governor Deal will help the Cobb County School District avoid teacher lay-offs, restore our 180 school-day calendar and possibly even leave room for some salary-step increases. This is WELCOME NEWS. However, the additional funding is not yet certain. Superintendent Hinojosa has said that he believes that it was this community's efforts that made the difference to the Governor and our State legislators in increasing the State education funding. Thank you for all your letters and phone calls; they truly made a difference. To secure the additional funding, we still need your help. Our State Legislature has not yet voted on the increased State education funding, and the Board of Education has not begun holding meetings on the CCSD 2015 budget. Please contact the following elected officials and let them know how much you appreciate their support and their commitment to increased educational funding. We need to ensure our schools have all of the essential resources necessary to provide the high quality education that is critical to the future of our students, businesses and community.
