The School Budget Meeting Is Tomorrow Night!!!!

All parents are requested to join the Walton PTSA on January 9th, 2014 from 7-8 pm in the Walton High School theater.
As many of you know, the Cobb County School District projects a $79 million shortfall for its 2015 school budget. This will likely mean cuts to Cobb County school budgets and could result in potential increases in class size, a reduced school year (we are now at 175 days, instead of 180), and possible cuts to physical education and music and art programs. Please come to the meeting to find out what parents and the community can do.
Confirmed Panelists: Walton Principal Judy McNeill, Superintendent Michael Hinojosa, State Representative Sharon Cooper, State Representative Valerie Clark and Cobb County School District Board of Education Members, Scott Sweeney and David Banks.

January 13th at 6:30 (Walton Theater). Sophomore students' PSAT Score Reports will be distributed, along with a presentation by Walton School Counselors on understanding the scores and utilizing the many tools from College Board to improve future PSAT and SAT performance.
**Please note-other grade level PSAT Score Reports will not be available that night, but will be given out in class the following day (1/14). Students will also receive their original test booklets and review their Score Reports in English and math class.

Introducing Our New School Counselor

Ms. Judy Rangel will be joining us on Monday, January 13th as the school counselor for students with last names starting with Ci-G. Ms. Rangel has over 20 years of experience in education. She began her career as a middle school teacher in Cobb County. She has been a professional high school counselor in three different school districts and is joining us after five years at South Gwinnett High School. Ms. Rangel also worked for the Georgia Student Finance Commission as a counselor-in-residence. Ms. Rangel brings a wealth of knowledge and we are very happy to have her join the Walton faculty. Please stop by and meet her at the Open House of January 29 th. If you need assistance from a guidance counselor prior to January 13th, please contact anne.carlson@cobbk12.org and one of the other counselors will contact you.

Auditions for Walton Drama Spring Broadway Revue

Walton Drama will be conducting AUDITIONS for its Spring Musical Revue.
(performances are 4/24-4/26)
Audition Dates are Thursday January 16th and Friday January 17th 3:45- 6:00 p.m. in the Walton Theater.
Thursday 1/16 will be VOCAL Auditions - please prepare 30-60 seconds max of a song selection (cd back up or a cappella). Friday 1/17 will be DANCE auditions (you will learn a short combo then perform in groups).
