The Education Budget Crisis -We Need Your Help!!

At a standing room only ECCC PTA School Budget Panel on 12/4 at East Side Elementary, we learned that we MUST communicate with our elected officials for their help to find a solution to the education budget crisis.  For an article on the 12/4/13 Panel Discussion, please see the MDJ article (http://ecccpta.us5.list-manage2.com/track/click?u=7422048a699751d9dcd8859a0&id=6c45590de7&e=cbca6897c1).

Here are  talking points for our elected officials, including our Governor, our state legislators and our Cobb County Board of Education.

* Tell the elected officials that the school budget deficit in Cobb County, and reduced education funding statewide, is a serious threat to the quality of education for our students and to the strength of our economy.
* Ask them to commit to finding a solution.
* Ask them to support increased financial funding for education and No More Austerity Cuts.*  The elected officials for Walton High School are as follows:

**  Governor Nathan Deal, http://gov.georgia.gov , 404-656-1776

In addition, we encourage you to attend the following information session:

As we head into cold and flu season make sure your child is aware of good health habits that can stop the spread of germs:
*Wash hands frequently with soap and water or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer *Avoid close contact with people who are sick, do NOT share beverages/food *Get plenty of sleep, stay hydrated, eat breakfast - keep snacks and a water bottle in backpack

The Medication policy for high school students:
Prescription medications must be brought to the clinic by a parent.
