| Bus Driver Appreciation Week - Oct. 21-25 |
On Oct. 21, the PTSA will host a luncheon to honor our 60 awesome and dedicated Walton Bus Drivers. During Bus Driver Appreciation Week, please ask your student to take a moment to thank their Bus Driver or even write him/her a note. They will love it! Did you know for every school bus on the road, that's 36 fewer cars clogging the morning commute? Thank you, Walton Bus Drivers for keeping our students safe and making a difference! Prior to the start of the 2013-2014 school year, the Cobb County School district approved the adoption of online student textbooks for the first three math courses offered at the high school level. These online resources are currently being used in Coordinate Algebra, Analytic Geometry and Honors Advanced Algebra. With the online resources, students have access to a mathematics textbook, printed and interactive examples, online practice quizzes and links to video tutorials. Each student has been assigned a personal login and code to the online textbook for their course. These logins are provided by the teacher free of charge to each student enrolled in the course. The online resources are available to students for the entire school year. Should a student not have online access, there are CD Rom copies of the textbook available for checkout through the bookroom.
Many parents have expressed an interest in purchasing a print textbook for their student to use in conjunction with the online resources. The print textbook will have the same examples and assignments but will not include any of the interactive capabilities. These textbooks are available for purchase through Walton High School at a nominal cost. You may order as many copies of the book as you wish but are NOT required to order any at all. All assignments can be completed using the online textbook.
Order forms will be distributed in math classes on Tuesday, October 15th. If you wish to purchase a textbook, please complete the bottom portion of the form, make a check payable to Walton High School and return your order to your student's math teacher NO LATER than Friday, November 1st.

The Media Center needs your help on WEB days. Please consider signing up!
Responsibilities are to help with student sign-in/out on WEB days.
Time requirements are from 1:00 - 3:00 pm.
This may not seem like a very important role, but our media staff rely heavily on WEB volunteers. Our presence allows them to deal with other important responsibilities.
We need at least one volunteer, but would prefer two volunteers, per WEB day.

Accident Avoidance Workshops

Take 60 Seconds and Learn about Accident Avoidance Workshops
Does your child drive a little too fast because they're too sure of themselves? Or even a little too slow because they're unsure of themselves? The Accident Avoidance Workshops has a remedy for both of those situations. Most kids realize how much control they don't have once they have driven the AAW obstacle course at 30mph. Taking out traffic cones at 30 mph has much more impact than a nagging parent, and mangled traffic cones are a great way to learn respect for speed and the limitations of both the car and the student.
Whether building confidence in new drivers, or knocking the hot-rods down a few pegs, the Accident Avoidance Workshops' goal is to save lives by positively impacting new drivers' development, in both their decision making abilities and the physical skills necessary to maximize on their own vehicle's capabilities without losing control of their vehicle, or themselves.
