Have a happy Thanksgiving!

thanksgiving-header.jpg
On this holiday, we at Central Health wish you a happy, healthy Thanksgiving spent with friends, family and loved ones. We are so thankful to have a supportive, energetic community that inspires us to strive toward our vision of Central Texas as a model healthy community.

Thank you all!
Southeast Health & Wellness Center

In November of last year we gathered to celebrate the grand opening of Phase I of the Central Health Southeast Health & Wellness Center at the site of the old Veterans Administration clinic at Montopolis and Oltorf. Since that day, the center has grown into a vital community asset for a region of Travis County that has traditionally gone without many essential health services. Through our partner CommUnityCare, which provides the majority of medical services at the center; the addition of a Community Resource Center this past summer; and ongoing community events and programs; we are proud that the Central Health Southeast Health & Wellness Center has become an integral part of the community.

For example, in the first year of operation CommUnityCare has provided more than:
  • 19,000 primary care visits
  • 6,000 dental visits
  • 1,500 specialty care visits
Since opening in June of this year, the Community Resource Center has created a one-stop-shop for community members to complete enrollment in various health programs, including the Medical Access Program, SNAP and CommUnityCare sliding fee scale program.

Summer Lunch Program
The Central Health Southeast Health & Wellness Center has also become a hub for community services and events, such as hosting group cooking classes, Mi Madre support groups, community meetings, tax preparation services, and a summer lunch program for area families.

During the coming year we plan to expand the range of services available, from enhanced medical services such as radiology and OB/GYN, to new and enhanced wellness programs such as cooking classes and youth health education. Our goal is to provide the access, tools, and services to help Travis County residents, and particularly those in the southeast region, become healthier.

Save the Date
Please mark your calendars for February 20, 2016 as we celebrate the Phase II Grand Opening for the Central Health Southeast Health & Wellness Center.

Central Health

Central Health is here to make our community stronger by investing in access to health care for our most vulnerable residents. We are the local public entity that connects low-income Travis County residents to high-quality, cost-effective health care. Central Health works with a network of health care partners like the Community Care Collaborative, the Dell Medical School at The University of Texas at Austin, and Seton Healthcare Family to eliminate health disparities and improve safety net health care delivery as we transform Travis County into a model healthy community.
