Family of Faith Field Trip - Nativity Exhibit

Nearly 50 Saint Clement parishioners enjoyed a field trip to the Loyola University Museum of Art to experience their annual Nativity exhibit. Participants were able to explore diverse cultural and artistic perspectives about the Nativity from all over the world. The afternoon ended at the Hershey store for hot chocolate on a cold, snowy winter day!

Family of Faith Field Trips are held four times a year to help experience our Catholic faith as a community in fun and social ways so that we can all feel more connected as a family of faith.

The next Family of Faith Field Trip will be Sunday, February 22 at noon and is called "Explore Your Church - Saint Clement Church Treasure Find." The Catholic faith is rich in symbol and ritual. When we begin to learn about all of the symbolism we find keys to understanding that unlock some amazing secrets. Watch the bulletin for registration information.

A Thank You Letter from Saint Margaret of Scotland Parish and School

Dear Saint Clement Parish,

Christmas greetings and well wishes from Saint Margaret of Scotland Parish and School! During this Christmas season we have so many things to be thankful for: our students, our faculty, our families, our friends and our health. Here at Saint Margaret of Scotland, we are especially thankful for the partnership and friendship that has been cultivated over the past year between our community and Saint Clement Parish. It has been an amazing first year with this partnership and we wanted to highlight some of the significant things that have taken place:

  • Through the Clement Commits portion of the To Teach Who Christ Is Capital Campaign, Saint Clement is providing scholarships for 77 new students to attend Saint Margaret of Scotland School. The scholarships total over $90,000 for these new students. Due in large part to this scholarship, the enrollment at our school increased from 155 to 224 in one year!
  • The staffs of Saint Clement and Saint Margaret of Scotland Schools have participated in professional development together. Both schools are working on the Responsive Classroom program, which strives to educate the whole child and to provide students with the tools and resources to be successful in and out of the classroom.
  • Saint Clement School's Parent Association collected soup labels and used those funds to purchase and donate new recess and gym equipment to Saint Margaret of Scotland School. The student council from Saint Clement came to our school for the day to help distribute the new equipment and to have lunch with the student council at Saint Margaret of Scotland. This was a wonderful growth experience for all the students involved.
  • On December 16, Saint Margaret of Scotland hosted the 1st Annual Saint Clement/St. Margaret Basketball tournament. The 8th grade basketball teams from both schools played in the SMOS gymnasium in front of students and parents. After the game, players from both schools enjoyed pizza and socializing with each other. The Saint Clement School students also delivered gifts of books and school supplies for our classrooms.

While amazing, this list doesn't go far enough to convey the effect that your generosity and care are having in our school community. We'd like to highlight the story of a student who joined our community because of a Saint Clement scholarship.

Maurice joined us this year in 8th grade after his school closed unexpectedly at the end of last school year. It's hard to imagine the emotions and stress for an 8th grader that cannot graduate from his childhood school, and who has to go to a new school and make new friends. Maurice's family was forced to find a new school for their son and found St. Margaret of Scotland. We were able to provide Maurice with a $1,200 scholarship and that made a world of difference - both financially and personally. Maurice is thriving at our school - he is one of our top students, is a member of the football team and is a leader in and out of the classroom. Because of your support, we were able to provide this opportunity to Maurice and his family that otherwise couldn't have happened. I'd like to share the heartfelt thanks and gratitude of Maurice and his family for the generosity of the Saint Clement community.

Saint Margaret of Scotland School is truly blessed to have so many dedicated and passionate members of the Saint Clement community willing to help our school community. We are very excited about the future of our partnership, and look forward to working with you in the future. We also look forward to reciprocating on your generosity - we hope that we can in some way help the Saint Clement family as well.

Please be assured of our prayers for you, your families, and your caring parish community.

God bless,
