Clement Moms Host Family Advent Retreat

The Faith and Family Advent Retreat was a great time and a great way to introduce little ones to the coming season of Advent. The event began with a prayer from Father Rex and an explanation of why the church is decorated in purple during the season. Next, Erin Neal (along with a furry lion friend named Felix) got everyone singing and moving. Erin and Felix talked about how Advent is a period of waiting -- waiting for the king. They also lit an Advent wreath with the help of some friends!

The highlight was

when everyone marched behind Erin and Felix, singing "Soon and Very

Soon," and ended up a

round Baby Jesus in his manger. A number of little girls were drawn to the baby and wanted to take care of him. Once Erin completed her program, the children had the opportunity to create their own Advent wreaths and color Advent inspired coloring sheets. Everyone left with a bag containing additional resources to help parents continue to teach children about Advent at home!

H.U.G.S. Collection Helps Homeless This Winter

Over the weekends of November 1-2 and 8-9, the parish held its annual H.U.G.S for the Homeless collection, requesting donations of Hats, Underwear, Gloves and Socks from parishioners. Gently used coats were also collected.

Each winter is especially hard for our homeless brothers and sisters, and area shelters never seem to have enough of these items. Here at Saint Clement, we give out dozens of hats and gloves each winter to the cold who come to our door. The items will be donated to Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Franciscan Outreach and some will be kept as Saint Clement. Parishioners generously remembered those who suffer from the cold, and donated a great number of items to the parish.
