First Communicants Celebrate Jesus Day

The First Communicants and their parents celebrated Jesus Day on April 12. "Jesus Day" is a morning of reflection that helps the children and their parents prepare their hearts for the sacrament. This year, the children sampled varieties of bread from all over the world while we talked about what it means to "break bread".

Jesus as the Bread of Life brings to mind the central image of the Eucharist in the Catholic faith. The entire "spiritual wealth" of the Church is contained in the Eucharist: Christ. The Eucharist is taken, broken, blessed and shared so that we, as the Church, become the Body of Christ and bring new life to the world. We also reflected

on how Jesus showed us how to share bread with people who do not have enough to eat or drink. We shared the ways that Saint Clement parishioners help to provide food for the poor in our neighborhood.

First Communion takes place at Saint Clement this Saturday. Please keep these children and their families in your prayers.
