Race Cars and Scouts Take Over School Gym for Pinewood Derby

Saint Clement Cub Scout Pack 3000's Annual Pinewood Derby has roared into the record books! Thanks to the many Scout Leaders, parent volunteers, and track crew who helped pull off another fun and exciting event last Saturday, April 5. The tradition of building wooden model racecars with a parent or other helper dates back to the 1950s, but the action is clearly 21st century with electronic race scoring and a host of sleek vehicles.

Each Den gave awards for speed and design, plus a finals race was held for the top three fastest cars in each Den. Among the notable spectators were Fr. Simpson, a past Derby participant, and Mr. Sitzer, an Eagle Scout. Scouts and parents can see their friends at the final Pack Meeting of the year on May 15 where all
participants and the top three finishers will be recognized.

During the Derby, Saint Clement's Boy Scout Troop 3 hosted a refreshment sale and fundraiser. The Scouts did a great job and proved themselves not only to be excellent salesmen, but gracious hosts as well. Thanks also to several moms for their help and guidance getting everything set up. The boys had a blast and made some money for the Troop's trips to the Florida Keys and summer camp.

Easter Bunny Spreads Joy (and candy) at Kids' Party

The Clement Moms group hosted its annual Kids' Easter Party on Saturday, April 5 in Centennial Hall. Young children and their families gathered for Easter themed crafts, treats, an Easter egg hunt, and an opportunity to visit the Easter Bunny. As usual, this was a well attended and festive event full of happy children and parents.

Clement Moms group provides a social outlet, support network and involvement opportunities for parish moms. The group is comprised of moms with children ages five and younger. There are 11 committees, including welcoming, social, service, faith and family, wine and chat, and playgroup. To get involved with Clement Moms or learn more about us, please contact Jessica Bargnes to be added to the group and newsletter. We always welcome new members and look forward to hearing from you.
