Sacrament of Reconciliation

Communal Reconciliation Service: April 2

Individual Reconciliation: Saturdays, 4:00-4:45 p.m. in the Chapel

Through the Sacrament of Reconciliation, we examine our conscience and consider our relationships with ourselves, other people, and God. We seek healing and solidarity in the presence of others. Only then is our community restored to wholeness and holiness as the Body of Christ, rededicated to bear Christ's peace in the world.

Fasting

The Catholic Church's regulations on fasting require those between the ages of 18 and 59 to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, limiting themselves to one full meal and two smaller meals each day, with no snacking between meals. Catholics age 14 and older abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, and all Fridays of Lent. When we fast, we unite ourselves with others who suffer from want. We also sharpen our awareness of our dependence on God for all the gifts in our lives.

Encountering Christ

Lenten Evenings of Prayer and Reflection: Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m., Fireside Hall

This Lent, you are invited to join us as we use the Sunday Scripture to reveal Jesus' salvific love -- not only on the cross, but in the very midst of our lives. We will gather at 7:00 p.m. as a community to pray, sing, and reflect on our need for Christ and His faithful response:

March 18 -- Encountering Christ, the Living Water

March 25 -- Encountering Christ, the Light of the World

April 1 -- Encountering Christ, the Resurrection & the Light

April 8 -- Encountering Christ in His Paschal Mystery

Prayer Yoga

March 13, 20, 27 and April 3, 10 in the Chapel

$15/Session or $12/Class for 4-Class package; please bring your own mat if you have one; dress comfortably for movement. Prior yoga experience is not necessary. Contact Dina Wolf.

The Way of the Cross

Wednesdays of Lent at 6:15 p.m. in the Church

The ancient devotion of walking and praying along the Stations of the Cross allows us to make a pilgrimage in spirit to the scenes of Christ's suffering and death. Through this pilgrimage we meditate on Christ's passion and reflect on the meaning of following The Way.

Men's Communio Lenten Prayer Afternoon

March 15 at 1:45 p.m. in the Chapel

Lent is the perfect time to study different prayer forms. Men of the parish are invited for an afternoon of prayer and reflection in the Chapel where we will learn about various prayers like The Jesus Prayer, Lectio Divina, Adoration, and Liturgy of the Hours. There will be an opportunity for the Sacrament of Reconciliation and attending the 5:00 p.m. parish Mass. Please contact Goeff to register.

Little Black Books

A resource for personal prayer in everyday life. Daily reflections that help you remember to put God at the center of your life. Praying just six minutes a day in communion with fellow parishioners can change your life. Books -- while they last -- are available in the church vestibule.

Donate-a-Day

Lenten Almsgiving: The Romero Scholarship

Our parish-wide Lenten almsgiving will be the Romero Scholarship of Saint Clement Parish. The Scholarship benefits students from our sister parish, the 22 de Abril Community in El Salvador. These students are in extreme economic need, and have the desire and academic potential to attend high school or college, as well as a commitment to service and solidarity. By supporting the Romero Scholarship, we will be helping young people receive an education that will change their lives, their families, and the Colonia 22 de Abril itself. Your donation will go directly to pay for the students' tuition, books, uniforms, lab fees and transportation. A donation of any size helps.

Please make your check payable to: Saint Clement Parish - Romero Scholarship. Donations can be dropped off to the parish anytime or at church on Palm Sunday or during Holy Week.

School Children - Please bring alms to class by April 15th in the box provided or in an envelope marked Romero Scholarship.

Religious Ed Children - Please bring alms to a Sunday Mass collection in the box provided or in an envelope marked Romero Scholarship.

Lenten Almsgiving: Food Collection

March 29 & 30 at all Masses

Local food pantries that we regularly contribute to have all reported they have more people coming for food than ever, and they cannot keep up with the supply needed for distribution. For that reason, we have implemented an ongoing food drive on the last Sunday of each month to support local parish-operated food pantries. Please place all items in the boxes located in the back of the church. Items needed: Non-perishable items such as canned fruits, tuna, stew, vegetables, soups and juice, as well as hygiene products such as deodorant, soap, toothpaste and diapers.

Parish Retreat Day: Grace Upon Grace: Christian Calling and the Joy of the Gospel

March 16, 11:15 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. on the Parish Campus

Our keynote speaker is Fr. Steve Bevans, SVD, a professor of Theology and Culture at Catholic Theological Union in Hyde Park. An engaging and dynamic speaker, he will launch the day with a talk on discerning your calling in the faith: the call to be human, to be a disciple, and to holiness.

Musical interludes for reflection will be integrated into his presentation, providing quiet time in this busy world to explore how you as a unique child of God, live the gospel in the world.

Schedule for the day:

11:15 a.m.: Mass with Fr. Steve Bevans, SVD

12:15 - 1:00 p.m.: Light lunch in Saint Clement School cafeteria
