Holy Thursday, Mass of the Lord's Supper: Tonight at 7:30 p.m.
Tonight we will gather at 7:30 p.m to celebrate the Mass of the Lord's Supper. We recall Christ taking, breaking, and blessing the bread and giving us the command, "Do this in memory of me." On this evening we proclaim the Gospel of John, where Jesus as humble servant, washes the feet of the disciples. He gives us his Mandatum (mandate) -- "Love one another, as I have loved you." So important was Jesus' gesture of service, that our liturgy ritualizes the action.
On Holy Thursday, everyone is invited to take part in washing each other's feet. It is through this action that we truly place ourselves as humble servant to those around us. We then gather in remembrance as we celebrate the Eucharist. At the end of the liturgy, there is no blessing or fanfare. Instead, the entire congregation processes with song outside the church and into the lower level chapel. In this action, we process following the presence of Christ in the Eucharistic bread, symbolizing our journey with him to Gethsemane. The chapel remains open until midnight for people to pray and keep watch with our Lord.
We hope you will join us tonight.

Holy Thursday Collection: Precious Blood Ministry of Reconciliation's Safe Passage Program
The collection tonight will go to the Precious Blood Ministry of Reconciliation's Safe Passage Program. Your donation will be used to assist in providing daily bus passes for those released from prison to safely travel to school, work, community service, and other activities throughout Chicago. The Precious Blood Ministry of Reconciliation (PBMR) is a network of reconciliation ministries inspired by a spirituality of the Precious Blood. Motivated by the belief that "those who were once far off have been brought near through the blood of Christ" (Eph 2:13), the staff works as agents of reconciliation. PBMR's ministries reach out to the victim, the wrongdoer, and the community to create a safe space where healing can begin and where people can find the support and encouragement needed to begin reconciliation. They strive to be a resource to the community to find restorative ways to heal and rebuild after violence and conflict. They are a prayerful presence and provide a safe place in the Back of the Yards neighborhood of Chicago. For more information, please visit their website. Thank you for your generosity!
