Thank You for Your Generosity to This Year's Jesse Tree!
Throughout Advent, Saint Clement parishioners again reached out to those in need to share in the joy of the season. Through the generosity of so many parishioners, we were able to donate more than $15,000 in gift cards and donations, as well as more than 1,300 items of clothing, toys, and more, to the 12 agencies the Jesse Tree serves.
The following gives a breakdown of the distribution:
- Catholic Charities Toy Shower: 206 toys
- The Grove Nursing Home: 100 individual gifts of clothing, gift cards, blankets, etc.
- H.O.M.E.: $3,035 in gift cards and donations
- Lakeview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center: 130 individual gifts of clothing, gift cards, blankets, etc.
- La Rabida Children's Hospital: $290 in gift cards, 157 items of toys and clothing
- Lincoln Park Community Shelter: $1,495 in gift cards and donations, 180 individual gifts and general supplies
- Madonna House: $1,150 in gift cards, 52 items of women's and children's clothing, toys, etc.
- The Night Ministry: $1,465 in gift cards and donations, 101 items of men's and women's clothing, sheets, etc.
- Our Lady of Mercy: $1,345 in gift cards, 120 items of coats, gloves, hats and scarves
- Our Lady of Solace: $1,555 in gift cards and donations, 86 items of diapers, personal care bags and coats
- Solidarity Bridge: $4,305 in donations for medical supplies and treatments
- St. Vincent de Paul Center: $303 in gift cards and CTA passes, 182 items of children's and adult clothing, etc.
The Fahey Center was filled with bags and bags of gifts collected for the Jesse Tree!
Thank you to all Saint Clement parishioners who donated so generously to the agencies who count on us at Christmas and throughout the year! Thanks also to those parishioners who made other contributions and donations to the Jesse Tree, including Diane & Michael Hora. Parish staff members, along with Katie Kozlowski's family and friends, donated coats, hats, gloves, and toys to 19 children who attend the Early Start Home Daycare, a private facility that serves very poor families who are trying to maintain their employment but are in need of childcare during non-traditional work hours.
And last but certainly not least, we are incredibly grateful to the many volunteers who contributed to making this year's Jesse Tree a success, especially the dedicated Jesse Tree Committee who made this all possible: Chair Georganne Palffy, Aylice Toohey, Colleen Jones, Heather Kracik, Helen Wargel, Chair Emeritus Sally Smith, and all the tag makers, tree decorators, and restockers, gift sorters, and charity liaisons who generously gave of their time for this project.

Clement Moms Assist Moms at Sharing Parish
Clement Moms embraced service during the season of Advent, collecting toys and clothing for children and mothers at our sharing parish, Our Lady of Mercy. The donations were distributed to needy families, primarily single mothers with young children, after each of OLM's three religious education classes last weekend. Roughly eight boxes of clothes and a dozen large boxes of toys were distributed.
Thank you Clement Moms and its Service Committee for embracing the spirit of service this holiday season!

Saint Clement School Hosts Annual Christmas Concert
Saint Clement Church was filled with the sound of music the evening of December 20 as Saint Clement School's first through eighth graders gathered with their families and friends for the school's annual Christmas concert.
Guests were greeted by the sounds of the Saint Clement Band, under the direction of Russell St. Germain.
Promptly at 7:00 p.m., the eighth graders marched up the aisle in song, taking their place for the evening sitting behind the baptismal font. They proceeded to entertain the crowd during the transition between each class' performance. The second through sixth graders each took turns marching up the aisle, then gathered on the stairs in front of the altar to perform two well-rehearsed songs. Parents anxiously waited for their children to march down the aisle, smiling once their loved one was spotted.
The oohs and aahs came as the first graders entered, the girls adorned in angel costumes; the boys as shepherds. Mary, Joseph, and Baby Jesus accompanied them through their performance.

-- a new a cappella group for 7th and 8th graders -- performed two pieces while the eight graders rounded out the one hour performance.
Congratulations to Anna Bax, upper school music director, and Jesse Roe, lower school music director, for conducting a beautiful evening of music.
Jesse Roe also hosted a Christmas concert for the Pre-K and Kindergarten students the morning of December 14 in the school gym. Decked in their finest Christmas apparel, Saint Clement School's youngest entertained their parents and friends at the short program. The teachers then hosted a short reception in the classrooms.
