Have You Made Your New Year's Resolution?
The celebration of Christmas and the start of a new year always provide a good opportunity for reflection and refocus in our lives. As we take stock of our physical health, habits, finances, and relationships, why not add our spiritual life to that list, too? Continuing together on our journey of faith into 2013, we encourage you to take a few minutes to reflect on your faith life over the past year, and invite you to make a "Spiritual Resolution" as we enter into the new year. Try out some of these ideas surrounding prayer (and look to the holiday bulletin for ideas on serving and giving)! Work on your prayer life. - Try praying in different locations or times of the day to find a fit.
- Start small -- you are more likely to succeed if you choose a manageable goal!
- Schedule it! Put it on a digital calendar with an automatic reminder.
- Learn from a few experts.
- Try a prayer group or a retreat. Upcoming retreats through Saint Clement include: 1) Mid-Winter Retreat for Couples on February 9, 1-5pm, in Centennial Hall; 2) Young Adult Community Winter Retreat on February 22-24 in Benet Lake, WI. Details and registration information coming in January.
- Find a prayer partner to pray with or for.
Get more out of (and put more into) Mass. - Arrive early so you have time to settle in & focus before Mass starts.
- Read the Scripture ahead of time -- find it on www.usccb.org.
- Participate in our new Mass Journals initiative (beginning January 6)
- Give yourself a refresher course on why we do what we do (try the Teaching Mass on January 6).
- Volunteer for a liturgical ministry (contact Flo Merkl-Deutsch) or choir (contact Paul Nicholson).
Make it a priority to get to Mass every weekend. - Schedule on your calendar which Mass you will attend before the weekend even starts (Mass times are found on our homepage).
- Make plans to attend with a friend or another family member to hold you accountable.
Incorporate spirituality into other areas of your life... - Pick a spiritual book for your next trip.
- Set the homepage of your web browser for a daily, online reflection.
- Make a playlist or CD with religious songs or music that you relate to on a more spiritual level.
- Download spiritually-themed podcasts to listen to as you commute, exercise, or clean the house.
- Ask the people in your life with strong faith what habits or practices help them connect to God.
Whatever you decide, may every good blessing be with you now and in the year to come!

New Year's Day Mass & Blessing
New Year's Day -
Tuesday, January 1
10:00 a.m. in the Church
This will be the only Mass celebrated on New Year's Day.
We wish you and your family a
safe and blessed holiday!
New Year Blessing Heavenly Father, in this time of new beginnings, we recall how the heavens celebrated the birth of Christ. We think back to the new kingdom he proclaimed, and remember the new life we gained in our baptism. In this time of new beginnings, and at the beginning of this New Year, may we always act as good examples of the new life in you that all Christians have and be the same for others. Give us the joy that is ours as adopted members of God's family. Amen.

Did You Know?
Start Your New Year Right:
Holiday Bulletin Filled with Opportunities
We have created a special holiday bulletin filled with several months' worth of opportunities at Saint Clement Parish to pray, serve, give, learn, and become an even more engaged Catholic.
Whether you are a long-time parishioner or new to our parish, we invite you to page through these many events and opportunities. Listen to your own reactions as you look them over and mark on your calendar those things which may be of interest or attract you. Or perhaps pay special note to those offerings that turn you off or challenge you. These may be exactly the things you need to do. One of the sure lessons of this season is that God works in the unexpected.
We hope you will join us as we strive together for deeper holiness, greater communion, and wider service in the year to come. May every good blessing be with you.
