Protecting your Personal Information

LPP is committed to helping our clients protect themselves and their assets. We know of several people who have recently had their personal information compromised. While no one knows how it happened, luckily the situations were caught very quickly and no real damage was done. Here are three tips to help protect your information and easily monitor your accounts.
  1. Never send personal information in an email. This means social security numbers, dates of birth etc. It is easy to forget that some of this information may be in a document and, when it's attached to an email, it's in the digital world without encryption. Always protect your attachments with a password or upload the document to your vault and let us know.

  2. Pay attention to email notices from your financial institutions. Fidelity sends out email confirmations when an account is opened or a change is made to your accounts or login. If you have ANY questions or concerns please contact us right away.

  3. Check transactions. This can easily be done by logging into your personal financial portal. The faster you recognize the problem, the quicker it can be resolved.

Shedding Party - August 15th

You are invited to the Annual LPP Shredding Party! This has been such a success the last couple of years and we are looking forward to doing it again. The party will be held on August 15th at our offices from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. Everyone is invited to come and enjoy food and beverages while their documents are shredded on site! For those of you who can't attend the event but would like to have documents shredded, simply bring them by the office between August 4th -14th and we will make sure they get destroyed appropriately. This is a great opportunity for you to get rid of old documents that have sensitive information on them and that you no longer need. Some great examples would be old bank statements, credit card statements or tax return supporting documents. Do you keep it or destroy it?

Here's a good primer for personal documents:
