Yes, it is a rosé (actually a light, beautiful copper color), but it is really a white wine with a little skin contact.  Imported by Kermit Lynch, this is Loire Valley Pinot Gris from Kimmeridgian limestone, a geological chain that connects the Loire Valley with Chablis in Burgundy.  With flora and minerality, it is superb and distinctive.  It was the "wine of the week" in the LA Times this summer, for good reason.

2010 Kaiken "Ultra" Cabernet

From Mendoza, Argentina, this is a bargain for Cabernet lovers from Montes.  Deep and complex, with blackcurrant, cherry, tobacco, and vanilla/spice notes from 12 months in French oak.  A big wine, yet elegant. Wine.com sells for $22, so a great bargain here.  Robert Parker 91pts and "excellent"

   

 

2011 Pio Cesare Gavi (Piedmont)

Made using Cortese grapes harvested from a limited number of hilly vineyards in the area of Gavi.  The bouquet is intense and ethereal, reminiscent of ripe fruit, green apples and moss. The palate is full and flavoursome, yet soft, with a daring hint of green fruit.

2010 Sea Mist Russian River Chardonnay 

$12.99  (Reg. $18)

A bargain for Russian River Valley fruit.  Deep honey baked pineapple, coconut aromas, with a supple, dry-yet-fruity medium body and a tart, spiced pear, nougat and Meyer lemon finish.  Pair with Hawaiian roasted pork and chicken dishes.
