2012 YALI SAUVIGNON BLANC (Chile)
Reg. $11.99
This ECO-friendly producer has produced a hit here:  tropical and citrus.  Herb and citrus, immensely fresh and clean, better than more expensive Sauvignon Blancs.

AFFINITY:  New Zealand Green Tip Mussels served in a creamy, aromatic broth

2012 DOMAINE SAINT-LANNES (France)
Reg. $12.99
Bistro white.  A Cotes de Gascogne, this find has lemon-lime tartness, and is fresh and crisp.  It is made from French Colombard and Gros Manseng grapes common to the region.

AFFINITY:  Great Apéritif (or with your Salads!)

2012 CASTELFEDER PINOT GRIGIO (Italy)
Reg. $13.99
This wine is called "Pertico", and it is from the esteemed Castelfeder family estate in the Alto-Adige.  A great find in a low-priced Pinot Grigio, only available in Colorado.

 AFFINITY:   You-name-it-it-works

2011 LAS VALLES VIURA/CHARDONNAY (Spain)
Reg. $12.99
Las Valles ("The Valleys") is produced by Bodegas Virgen del Águila, a modern, progressive cooperative near the town of Paniza. Offers aromas of citrus fruit, pineapple and wild flowers. Dry and extremely refreshing on the palate.

AFFINITY:  Tapas

2011 BUTTERFIELD STATION CHARDONNAY (CA)   Reg. $10.99
Clean, crisp, light, honeyed quality and a nice finish. Big, lovely apple, pear, lemon, apricot and pineapple aromas almost leap out of the bottle and carry through onto the palate and linger on the soft, pure, satiny finish.
Has won several medals.

AFFINITY:  Fried Chicken. Cole Slaw, (picnic stuff)

2010 CHARTON LA FLEUR  (France)
Reg. $12.99
Wine Enthusiast says, "Ripe and juicy, this wine melds red berry and black currant flavors easily into its dry texture. A deliciously ripe wine, it feels soft and forward".  Very easy-going Bordeaux from 2010.

AFFINITY:  Get yourself a nice cheese plate from zie Truffle
2009 VALL SANZO ROBLE  (Spain)
Reg. $13.99
Enjoy the "Damalisco" last month?  This is it's "bigger brother" Tempranillo from the Ribera del Duero.  These are great values that will open further with some time. "Roble" means "oak", and it has a bit in the mix, to good effect.  And the paw prints are "cute" (says Max).

AFFINITY:  Some "Burgers-Americana"

2011 BADIA A COLTIBUONO "CETAMURA" (Italy)
Reg. $12.99

What a value in Chianti.  Steve Tanzer 90pts:  "Bright light red. Enticing aromas of red cherry, cinnamon, flowers and licorice. Juicy and vibrant in the mouth, with harmonious acidity framing the red fruit, spice and floral flavors. Finishes long and crisp.  Great entry-level wine."

AFFINITY:  Italian Sausages with Peppers & Onions Sauteed

2011 ALTOS DE LA HOYA (Spain)
Reg. $13.99

Mataro.  Too good of a value to pass up.  Steve Tanzer  91pts:  "Bright purple. Black raspberry and cassis aromas, with spicy mineral and floral elements gaining power with air.  Powerful dark fruit flavors are sweetened by vanilla and cola nuances and lifted by juicy acidity. Impressively velvety wine, with very good finishing breadth and lingering spiciness. Plenty of bang for the buck here."

AFFINITY:   Grilled Steak + Veggie Kabobs

2009 DE BORTOLI PETIT VERDOT "VAT 4" (Australia)

Reg. 13.99
We like the Petite Sirah from this producer, and here is a great price for an even-better wine, that you do not see often:  100% Petit Verdot.  Signature violets, mulberries and blackberries with plummy depth and coffee cream oak. Lavishly fruited and oh so smooth until grainy tannin roughs it up on the back-palate. Hints of dried herbs on exit.

AFFINITY:   Roasted Lamb for Sunday Dinner with Mom
