New Wines of Greece

City Wine is partnering with Sparta Foods to present an informative, fun, and fantastic Greek wine tasting, paired with some Greek appetizers (and of course, Greek music filling the air!) You will be surprised at the quality of these wines, and how food-friendly they are. People are catching on, see the New York Times articles, "White Wines as Greek as the Sea" and "New Greek Reds".

Hardly any one carries a good selection of quality Greek wine. Why? Because most of them are carried by very small food and wine distributors. So many stores do not bother, and YOU are missing out! Come in, see, and taste our offering (excellent prices!). We plan to showcase them and keep them around.

2011 BOSINAKIS MOSCHOFILERO - $12.99 (reg $17)

Almost no color. Bright, floral, with great acidity. Perfect food wine. 100% Moschofilero grape.

2011 ARGYROS ATLANTIS "SANTORINI WHITE" - $12.99 (reg $16)

90% Assyrtiko with 5% Athiri and 5% Idiani grapes. Top white in NYT tasting.

2011 HATZIDAKIS "SANTORINI" - $15.99 (reg $20)

100% Assyrtiko, from Santorini (perhaps the best overall wine region in Greece). This is a top quality one, for pairing with your best fish.

2012 GAIA ESTATE "14-18" ROSE' - $11.99 (reg $15)

Beautiful color. Perfect, versatile food wine here, made from 100% St. Georges (a red grape). 14-18h refers to how long the maceration lasts with skins on.

2009 ARGYROS ESTATE "SANTORINI RED" - $15.99 (reg $20)

Amazingly tasty, and savory red made from mostly Mandilaria. "Top red in NYT tasting.
