Oh MAN!! Very tasty Chardonnay here. It is in a bright style, not aggressive, not oaky. It might remind you a little of the Chenin Blanc that does so well in S. Africa.

2010 PERRAUD "COGNETTES" MUSCADET (France) $12.99 From the Loire, this "sur lie" Muscadet is classic: brine, wet stones, mineral, and a sea breeze. Brisk, clean, food-friendly. It has a "sense of place". You need to try this wine.

This "jazzy number" wine is a City Wine exclusive, from a producer we like in the Languedoc. Spicy plum fruit. Ripe tannins. No oak. Carignan, Cinsault, Grenache, Syrah. A value from Kermit Lynch.

2010 TINTO NEGRO RESERVE MALBEC (Argentina) $13.99
No better value in Malbec. This cool climate "reserve" bottling is even better than the regular bottling: red-black cherry with great acidity. Delicious, lush and intensely fruity.

2010 BUENA VISTA SONOMA CABERNET (CA) $14.99
Black cherry & blueberry pie, with caramel notes. Some forest floor. Supple tannins, quite fruit-forward (OK, it's basically a "fruit bomb". This cab is made to sell for $20+.

2011 FOSSO CORNO "AIRES" MONTEPULCIANO (Italy) $12.99
Classic Montepulciano with a vibrant and fruity nose, dark red-blue color and fresh dark cherry fruit and spice. It doesn't spend any time in wood, it's all about the fruit. No bull (it's a ram).

2011 VINA BETOLA TINTO (Spain) $11.99
Monastrell, Syrah and Cabernet blend from JUMILLA region. Medium weight. Damson, spice and cassis fruits lead onto a nice grippy palate. It "B" a great-looking label, too.
AFFINITY: Slow-smoked baby-back ribs (is there a trend here?)
