2010 LEESE-FITCH SAUVIGNON BLANC (CA) Reg. $12.99
2012 Wine Enthusiast "top 100" and a 90 pt wine... but don't hold that against it! A lovely Sauvignon Blanc, dry, crisply acidic and clean, with complex citrus, flower and mineral flavors. A great value for the money. Check out the capsule.
AFFINITY: Fruit, Cheese and Fresh-Baked Sourdough Bread!
|
2011 MERCATTO PINOT GRIGIO (ITALY) Reg. $13.99 It is uncommon to find a Pinot Grigio selling at this price to be of this quality. From Trentino DOC, it is full of rich flavors and bright acidity. Decadent fig and melon flavors with complex minerality and floral tones, but a crisp fresh finish. Nice debut for City Wine! From Piedmont.
AFFINITY: Pasta Ravioli with goat cheese, wild mushrooms, arugula, truffle oil (please dial 303-393-7576 and invite Kirk)
|
2011 VIEGA DA PRINCESA ALBARINO (SPAIN) Reg. $14.99
This may be the best find of all the whites, and it normally sells for $22. This wine is a BIG and FLORAL white, loads of personality, and not a shy one, either. Single estate vineyard. Intense, pure, some anise notes along with lime zest and orange peel. Delicious. A couple 90pt scores.
AFFINITY: A big bold Paella - OMG

2010 DELAS COTES-DU-VENTOUX (FRANCE) Reg. $13.99
"The 2010 Cotes du Ventoux reveals crisp, elegant berry fruit intermixed with crushed rock and roasted herb notes in its medium-bodied, Burgundian-like, elegant personality." WA "best buy". Very drinkable red (Grenache/80 and Syrah/20) from the southern Rhone.

2010 ZESTOS (SPAIN) Reg. $10.99
1/2 each Garnacha and Tempranillo. Spicy aromas of cherry, raspberry, fruitcake and minerals. Ripe and lush, with good texture and heft to its red and dark berry flavors. A ripe, slightly jammy finish features a suggestion of smoky minerals. A perpetual crowd-pleaser and super value.

2010 TIKVES VRANEC (MACEDONIA)
Reg. $13.99
Different-and-exotic-R-Us. Macedonia?? This wine is made by famed oenologist Phillippe Cambie and has 90pts from Robert Parker. "Gorgeous fruit, medium to full body, supple tannins and outstanding purity as well as length. This remarkable value exhibits a deep ruby/plum color, abundant black currant fruit, and an unmistakable personality. It comes from 30 to 60-year-old Vranec vines from the oldest winery in Macedonia, first established in 1885."
|
