The Chamber's Board of Directors Support
The Regional Transit Authority

The Chamber's Board of Directors, based on the recommendation of the Public Policy Committee, has voted to support the Regional Transit Authority plan for rapid transit in Wayne, Oakland, Washtenaw and Macomb Counties. The Board thought this effort was vital to the continued revitalization of Detroit, as well as the economic development impact in Macomb County.

The Board also voted to support HB 995 - 998 - all linked to the development and testing of autonomous vehicles in Michigan.  Since Michigan auto manufacturers want to be leaders in the autonomous vehicle arena, it is imperative that these laws were passed.

Furthermore, the Chamber's Board voted to support passage of a packet of bills called "transformational brownfield projects".  The legislation would let developers use sales and income tax revenue generated by property projects to offset the cost of preparing a contaminated site for construction.  There is a minimum level of private capital investment into the project.
