            | | Renovated Play Park Open The Chamber was proud to be part of a great event at The Mall at Partridge Creek on Wednesday, August 3. Henry Ford Macomb's updated Children's Play Park is now open at the mall, following a week-long renovation. The play park has been a popular spot for children and parents since the mall opened almost nine years ago. The play park features 10 new structures with a healthy eating theme. "Henry Ford Macomb is proud to sponsor this play park, which is so well-loved by families in our community. It not only encourages active play, it reinforces a positive attitude about healthy foods with our children," said Barbara Rossmann, Henry Ford Macomb president and CEO.
 
 
 Get to Know Your Chamber  The most recent Get to Know Your Chamber  event was held Thursday, August 4 at First State Bank  on Hayes in Clinton Township.  This event is held several times each year and is perfect for both new members, who want to know who the Chamber staff are and what we can do for them, as well as established members who want to get more involved.  Attendees are able to introduce themselves to the group and enjoy networking time as well as refreshments.  The next Get to Know Your Chamber event is Thursday, October 6 at First State Bank.  Click here  to register.  
 
 Chamber Attends Ceremony at  Executive Drive The Chamber was honored to be invited to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the reopening of Executive Drive in Harrison Township on Wednesday, August 10.  The event was also attended by Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel, US Representative Candice Miller and David Wang, vice president of Yanfeng USA Automotive Trim Systems, among others. The event marked the opening of the one-mile stretch of new roadway along Interstate 94 between Production Drive and Joy Boulevard. 
 
 Macomb Foundation to Induct  Terry Hamilton into Hall of Fame   Terry Hamilton is the President of 534-bed St. John Macomb-Oakland Hospital.  Previously, he worked for St. John Providence Health System and Ascension Health's Indianapolis ministry.  Terry spent 14 years with the health care consulting practice at Deloitte and earned his MBA from the University of Michigan.  He is active in his community, participating in various governance roles with the Macomb County Chamber, Catholic Charities of Southeast Michigan, the Archdiocese of Detroit, Advancing Macomb, World Medical Relief and the Madison Heights/Hazel Park Chamber of Commerce.  He is married to Debbie and has two children, Emily and Will.

McLaren Macomb Re-Verified as  Level II Trauma Center  McLaren Macomb in Mount Clemens has earned re-verification as a Level II Trauma Center from the American College of Surgeons. This achievement demonstrates the McLaren Macomb Emergency Department and Trauma Center's dedication to providing exceptional care to injured patients.To achieve verified trauma level status, medical centers must meet the essential and rigorous criteria that ensure trauma care capabilities and institutional performance set forth by the American College of Surgeons. In addition to being the first verified trauma center in Macomb County, McLaren Macomb remains the county's only center with trauma surgeons in-house 24 hours a day, seven days a week, allowing for patients to be examined immediately upon arrival, besting the national standard of being seen within 15 minutes.  To learn more about McLaren Macomb's life-saving trauma services and certifications, visit mclaren.org/macombtrauma.

Credit Union Earns Diamond Award for  Veterans Documentary   On behalf of FreeStar Financial Credit Union (formerly known as Central Macomb Community Credit Union), the Michigan Credit Union League and Affiliates was honored with a 2016 Diamond Award for their work on the custom production "Vets Returning Home."  The documentary won in the Best Original Production category.  The video, which highlights how the credit union helps the underserved in the community, was created through a grant received from the Michigan Credit Union Foundation, in collaboration with Roseville's non-profit organization Vets Returning Home (VRH).  FreeStar has partnered with VRH to provide financial education classes and support for veterans working to get back on their feet.  The award was presented by the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) Marketing & Business Development Council, a national network comprised of over 1,200 credit union marketing and business development professionals. The video may be viewed here. FreeStar was originally established in 1957 at what is now the Selfridge Air National Guard Base. Today, the credit union serves over 18,000 members with the ability to accept members from 10 counties in Southeastern Michigan and military and veterans throughout Michigan. |
