Sun Shines on Chamber Golf Outing
The Macomb County Chamber's golf outing on June 6 at Gowanie Golf Club in Harrison Township was a success with 86 golfers enjoying a beautiful day of networking and golf. Golfers were treated to breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and beverages, as well as raffle prizes, a 50/50 drawing and the chance to win prizes at individual holes. David Richards of Fraser Public Schools won the raffle for a three-hour cruise through Freedom Boat Club and gift cards for a meal at Crews Inn. Prizes were also given to teams with the highest (The Mall at Partridge Creek with 79) and lowest (Mount Clemens and Fraser schools with 62) scores.

Jimmy John's Field Opens
The Macomb County Chamber was proud to handle the May 30 Ribbon Cutting ceremony for the grand opening at Jimmy John's Field, home to the United Shore Professional Baseball League's three teams: Utica Unicorns, Birmingham Bloomfield Beavers and Eastside Diamond Hoppers. Congresswoman Candice Miller and Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel were among those present for the ceremony. Congratulations to USPBL founder Andy Appleby and his staff on a successful opening day. Stay posted to the Chamber's Facebook page for members-only ticket giveaways every week throughout the season.
Community Choice Breaks Ground
Community Choice Credit Union had an official groundbreaking ceremony on May 24 at the location of their newest member center, 14965 23 Mile in Shelby Township. Construction is expected to be finished in the fall. Attendees were treated to a breakfast social.

Attend a Ladybug Giveaway
English Gardens will give away half a million ladybugs on Saturday, June 11 during pollinator weekend. Ladybugs are the most popular organic pest control for the garden, eating aphids, spider mites, immature whiteflies and other soft-bodies insect pests. Gardeners can get one bag of 150 ladybugs free with any purchase starting June 11, while supplies last. Limit one bag per household. English Gardens six main stores will also host two seminars that weekend. "The Benefits of Insects" will be on June 11 at 11 am. "Create a Garden to Attract Pollinators" will be on June 12. Indigo Night Coming Up
 On June 23 , the Macomb Children's Hands-On Museum will host its second annual Indigo Night fundraising event from 6 pm-midnight. The evening features an MWOW! (Museum Without Walls) exhibit preview, jazz and blues music from the Johnny Trudell Orchestra along with a silent auction, raffles, drinks, strolling dinner and desserts. WDIV-TV 4 news reporter and anchor Lauren Podell will serve as the celebrity emcee. Tickets for Indigo Night are $50 - click here to purchase. Sponsorships and program ads are also available. Business Workshop for Artists
 The Anton Art Center has engaged Andrea Rosenfeld and the Detroit Art & Business Institute (DABI) to offer Art Business Basics 101 on June 25, 2-3:30 pm. This workshop is designed specifically to guide artists, makers and other creatives to build a healthy and strong business structure and financial stability. Rosenfeld will work with attendees to cultivate a "business mindset," help them learn necessary dynamics to strengthen their art business, find their ideal clients and the best way to speak to them, begin an artist-specific business plan, and discuss time management and organizational strategies. Registration is required; tuition for the workshop is $20 for Anton Art Center members and $25 for non-members. Register at 586-469-8666 or at the Art Center (125 Macomb Pl. in Mount Clemens). FreeStar Financial Awards Scholarships
FreeStar Financial Credit Union awarded four outstanding high school seniors with $1,000 scholarships for Community Action and Military Honor. Desmond Cribbs from Clintondale High School and Carina Willcock from Utica High School will receive $1,000 each as the Community Action Scholarship winners. The Military Honor Scholarship is awarded to members of FreeStar Financial Credit Union who have at least one active military parent, reserve or veteran. Jerod Buchta from Troy High School and Carolynn Ross from L'Anse Creuse High School-North will receive $1,000 each as this year's Military Honor Scholarship winners. Golf Outing for The Salvation Army
 The Rotary Clubs of Greater Macomb are seeking golfers and donations for its annual Golf Outing and Auction on August 22 at Greystone Golf Club, 67500 Mound in Washington Twp. The outing will benefit The Salvation Army Mount Clemens Citadel. The fee for g olf and dinner is $125/golfer ($500 foursome), dinner only is $50/person.
