Wendy's Shows Off New Look

Wendy's at 15101 E. 12 Mile in Warren held a ribbon cutting on May 17 to celebrate its renovation. The restaurant now has a fireplace to create a relaxing atmosphere for nearby Macomb Community College and Wayne State University students. Henry Bowman, Warren's Parks and Recreation Director, was on hand, as well as Warren's Administrative Supervisor Tom Bommarito. Free food was enjoyed by all.


Unity School Bus Parts Celebrates 30 Years

Unity School Bus Parts celebrated its 30th anniversary with a ribbon cutting on May 19. Besides the ribbon cutting, there was an open house, demonstrations, food and beverages. Township Supervisor Bob Cannon was present for the event and Macomb County Chamber Ambassador Sue Blanchard presented a congratulatory certificate to Unity President/CEO Edward Mastry. Unity is located at 21280 Carlo Drive in Clinton Township.


AudioNet Opens its Doors in St. Clair Shores


New Macomb County Chamber member AudioNet Hearing Center held a ribbon cutting on May 19. St. Clair Shores Supervisor Kip Walby attended the event.  Attendees were treated to facility tours and refreshments.  AudioNet is located at 22631 Greater Mack in St. Clair Shores.

WJR Hosts Boating Season Kick-Off
Join 760 WJR's Frank Beckmann as he hosts his show live to kick off the Macomb Boating Season on Friday, May 27, 9 am-12 pm.  Visit with Frank and many Macomb County leaders at this annual event held at Brownies on the Lake, 24214 Jefferson in St Clair Shores.  Breakfast will be provided.
 
Henry Ford Offers Wellness Wednesdays
Henry Ford Macomb Hospitals will host its annual Wellness Wednesdays summer program offering free Zumba and yoga sessions June 1-Aug. 31 at The Mall at Partridge Creek. The free, 45-minute drop-in classes are held outdoor at the mall's center court main stage, weather permitting. Wellness Wednesdays begins with seven weeks of Zumba and finishes with seven weeks of yoga. Participants are encouraged to bring their own exercise mats. Classes begin at 9 am. NAWBO Hosts Mergers and  Acquisitions Seminar
National Association of Women Business Owners of Greater Detroit is offering Circle of Learning: Scaling Up Your Business Through Mergers and Acquisitions on June 2, 9 am-12 pm at UHY LLP, 27725 Stansbury Blvd, Suite 100 in Farmington Hills.  Presenters from UHY will talk about the many pros of scaling up your business through a strategic merger or acquisition, how to go about it and what some of the risks are.  A continental breakfast will be served.  Tickets are free for NAWBO members, $10 for non-members.  Register at www.nawbogdc.org.


Hope Center Raises Funds Through Run and Fun
The Hunger Run (formerly known as Run For A Wish), a benefit for Hope Center Macomb, will be on Sunday, June 5 at Shawnee Elementary, 21555 Vesper Dr in Macomb Township.  Registration will begin at 8 am, followed by a one-mile fun run/walk at 9:15 am, a 5k run/walk at 9:30 am and refreshments and awards at 10:15 am.  The fee for adults is $25 and students are $25.  Online registration and more information is available here.  

The Hope Center is also partnering with EOS Cafe, 30625 Jefferson in St. Clair Shores, for an event on Tuesday, June 7, 6-9 pm, with music by the Social Bandits Duo, sandwiches, salads and beverages.  Tickets are $15 in advance, $18 at the door.  All proceeds go to Hope Center Macomb to help feed those less fortunate in the county.  Click here for tickets or call 586-491-2924.  If you can't attend but would like to support Hope Center, visit hopecentermacomb.org.


Detroit Zoo Fundraiser Has Penguin Theme
The Detroit Zoological Society's annual Sunset at the Zoo fundraiser will be on Friday, June 10, 7-11:30 p.m. Themed "Penguin Palooza" in celebration of the Detroit Zoo's new Polk Penguin Conservation Center, this event is a 21-and-older event. There will be a strolling supper with tastes of signature dishes from 40 of the area's restaurants, as well as desserts and zoo-themed specialty drinks.  The event also features live music by The Simone Vitale Band, dancing under the stars, live and silent auctions and access to many of the Zoo's animal habitats as the sun goes down.  Attire is "summer chic," and guests are encouraged to dress in black and white in celebration of penguins and the new penguin center. Advance tickets can be purchased online at www.detroitzoo.org/sunset.  Supporter tickets are $175; Patron tickets are $300 and include a VIP Reception from 5:30-7 pm, just prior to the main event.  Supporter and Patron tickets may be purchased at the gate the day of Sunset for $200 and $325, respectively.


Roseville Gratiot Cruise Coming Soon

Volunteers and Sponsors Needed for Boating Event
Freedom Boat Club of Lake St. Clair is holding Boating Big! All Aboard for the Littles, a campaign to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS), on June 12, 1-5 pm, at Hideaway Harbor Marina, 36290 Jefferson in Harrison Twp. The Boat Club is looking for event sponsors as well as volunteers for a variety of jobs, including registration, helping with the kids fishing derby and other fun activities.  FBC is also donating $100 to BBBS Detroit for every new member that joins Freedom Boat Club of Lake St. Clair.  They are also raffling off a free one-month membership to FBC for a $10 donation.  If you're interested in attending, sponsoring or volunteering, contact Steven Dobreff at 586-873-7791 or sdobreff@freedomboatclub.com or Wanda Kenton Smith at 407-697-8055.
