US Representative Levin Visits Chamber
The Public Policy Committee of the Macomb County Chamber welcomed United States Representative Sandy Levin to its meeting on Thursday, May 5. He spoke to the Committee and their guests about issues, including the need to get small- and medium-sized business more involved in importing/exporting. He also took questions from the group. The Chamber would like to thank him for taking time out of his busy schedule to meet with them.

Mount Clemens Farmers Market Wins Readers Choice Award
 Detroit Metro Times magazine has named the Mount Clemens Farmers Market as the Best Farmers Market in Macomb County in their annual Readers Choice awards. The market is opening for the season on May 7. Thereafter, it will be open on Fridays and Saturdays, 7 am-1 pm, 141 N. River Road in Mount Clemens. Beginning July 20, it will also be open on Wednesdays, 2 pm-6 pm at 125 Macomb Place in the Roskopp Parking lot. Click here for more information on the Metro Times award.

 The Direct Marketing Association of Detroit is holding its May Mixer on Thursday, May 5, 6-9 pm at Amnesia in the Motor City Casino Hotel. Raymond Drzala of IQense will speak on the topic of Through-Channel Management, the process of aligning channel marketing, sales and support initiatives with program execution and measured effectiveness at every level. Westview Farm Market Opens For Season
Westview Orchards Farm Market is now open every day, 8 am - 6 pm. The Farm Market includes a three- acre playground, petting farm and a log obstacle course. Westview is also holding a Mother's Day Brunch on Sunday, May 8 in their Winery from 11 am-2 pm. The brunch is $16.95/person and $12.95/child under 12. Every mom gets a WOW Mimosa and a gift. Learn Effective Grant Writing
Macomb County's Department of Planning & Economic Development is offering the workshop "Keys to Effective Grant Writing" on Thursday, May 26, 9 am-12 pm. T his three-hour workshop will benefit any employee who may need to secure outside funding to ensure the success of a project. It will be held at Velocity Center for Collaboration, 6633 18 Mile in Sterling Heights. Class size is limited to 40 individuals and it is expected it to fill up quickly. The fee is $25. Run for Hope Center
The Hunger Run (formerly known as Run For A Wish), a benefit for Hope Center in Macomb, will be on Sunday, June 5. Registration will begin at 8 am, followed by a one-mile fun run/walk at 9:15 am, a 5k run/walk at 9:30 am and refreshments and awards at 10:15 am. The fee for adults is $25 and students are $25.
