2016 Board of Directors
The Macomb County Chamber Annual Meeting was held on Friday, January 29. Special guest Ken Kelzer, Vice President of General Motors Global Vehicle Components and Systems, spoke to the group about the $1 billion investment in GM's Tech Center in Warren, as well as groundbreaking advances, such as the development of an autonomous car. The 2016 Board of Directors was inducted by new Board Chairman Greg Jakub. Greg also presented plaques to three outgoing Board members and an engraved clock to outgoing Board Chairman Jennifer Mefford.

Develop Marketing Plan for Your Small or Medium Size Business
Direct Marketing Association Detroit is holding a Direct Marketing Boot Camp on Feb. 25 at the Motor City Casino, 9 am-4 pm.  This boot camp is directed at community businesses that don't have the time or resources to develop effective marketing plans on their own.  This hands-on seminar focuses on helping every attending business complete its marketing plan by the end of the day.  All the plans will be submitted to dmaD's panel for review with one selected for execution by the association experts.  The seminar is $99 and allows two attendees per business (additional attendees are $20/person).  For more information or to register, call 313-872-7850, ext. 4, or click here


St. Clair Shores Supports Flint Families
The Optimist Club of St. Clair Shores is holding a donation drive to help the residents of Flint with water, water faucet filters and lead water testing kits.  If you'd prefer to donate money, click here to make an online donation through Gofundme.  An anonymous donor is picking up the fee for the Gofundme account.  Click here for more information and the school and church locations where donations of water, filters and testing kits can be dropped off through Feb. 29.  


Baker College Holds Financial Aid Presentations 
Baker College of Clinton Township is holding financial aid presentations and workshops for prospective college-bound seniors.  The sessions will focus on completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form.  They are scheduled for Feb. 10 (East Detroit High School, 6:30 pm) and Feb. 17 (Lakeview High School, 6 pm).  For more information about about Baker College of Clinton Township, contact annette.looser@baker.edu or call 586-791-3000.  


Anton Art Center Offers New Exhibitions
Anton Art Center has three new exhibitions open through February 26.  Michigan Annual XLIII is the 43rd annual statewide juried competition of varying media by Michigan artists.  Forty-eight works were accepted out of 163 submitted, with $2000 in prizes for the artists. In the Boll History Gallery, The Detroit Historical Society presents Telling Detroit's Stories and Why They Matter.  On display in the Community Gallery is Primary Colors, a group show with a theme based in red, yellow and blue.  Primary Colors is open to members in good standing of the Mount Clemens Art Association, Lakeside Palette Club of St. Clair Shores and Warren Tri-County Fine Arts, Inc.  For  more information, go to www.theartcenter.org or call 586-469-8666.


New Haven Launches New Website and Video Contact
The Village of New Haven launched the redesign of its website, www.villageofnewhaven.org, to give visitors, residents and businesses relevant and easy-to-find information on the municipality's departments and services.  This new content includes Immediate Emergency Alerts on the homepage for faster access by residents.  And now website visitors can watch rich video content of council meetings, planning commission meetings and events directly from the site.
