Macomb Community College launched a special contribution opportunity to expand resources and services for veterans and their families.  Through the Robinson Coleman Fund at the college's Foundation, $15,000 has been allotted to match gifts (made by Dec. 31, 2015) to the college's Veteran and Military Services on a 1:1 basis. MCC was granted the highest-level ranking in the new Veteran-Friendly school program established by the Michigan Veteran Affairs Agency.  Nearly 900 active-duty military, veterans and their family members attend Macomb.  To participate in the matching fund campaign, go to www.macomb.edu/give and select Veteran and Military Services.

U.S. Representative Candice Miller was inducted into Michigan Women's Hall of Fame by the Michigan Women's Studies Association.  Miller represents Michigan's 10th Congressional District, which includes Macomb and St. Clair counties. The Michigan Women's Historical Center is home to the Hall of Fame.

During the holidays, Big Family of Michigan fills gift requests of more than 1,800 of the state's foster and in-need children.  YP Marketing Solutions, Detroit Division, is supporting this program by awarding $5,000 to purchase gifts for the children.  YP volunteers will gather on Nov. 24 to wrap gifts at International Automotive Components in Troy.
